Can't recieve texts from a specific person.

I have a family member that I cannot receive text messages from.   They can receive text messages from me, and we can both send and receive text messages from anyone else, but for some reason their texts do not reach my phone.    They have an iPhone 8, and I have a Pixel 7.   We've tried disabling iMessages and it didn't help.

I think we've solved the issue.  They were not updated to the latest iOS.  After updating, every text appears to be sending properly.  Thanks everyone for the help.

Yes, all of that works.  And I was able to then text my primary number again.

Now ask your family member to send you a text to the TextNow app and see if that works. Then text to your PM again after that.

I set up Textnow, text messages to and from my Textnow number to my primary number work fine.

No, RCS is turned off.  I tried turning it on to see if that would help, and it didn't.  The other phone is an iPhone, and we've tried disabling iMessages several times.  We've tried various combinations of data on/off, deleting each other from contacts and sending manual texts, etc, but nothing seems to make a difference.  More messages are getting through now, though, oddly.  But still many do not send.

No, it was not a group message.

Hello @archibald88

Sorry I'm late to this party. I love sleeping in on Saturday's!!

Just as a test, try downloading a VOIP app like TextNow. Text now uses very little data but better to use it on WiFi as it's free. There is no charge for this app. Pick a local number to were you live or close to it. Reboot the phone once your set up then text yourself using your PM account to your TextNow app. Wait a bit and see what happens. If nothing, text yourself from the TextNow app to your PM number. If nothing, ask your friend to text your TextNow number and see if that goes through. If it does, then the problem may be something to do with PM or the settings on your phone. Oh, if you have 2 phones, try putting the TextNow app on the other phone. If not, same phone is OK.

It's all about trial and error I say....

@archibald88  so, it was a group message and not a direct 1 on 1 text?

test with a direct text from your friend first

Do you have group or RCS messages on in the texting app? Does the other phone? What happens if you turn on your mobile data? What happens if they do too? I wonder if they could remove you as a contact and then try manually like sending to someone new.

Strangely, I was able to receive one text message from them just now.  We tried again to confirm, but none of the subsequent texts got through.

We've tried that already with no luck, unfortunately.   I've never owned an iPhone.

If these are not currently set - on his phone, turn on imessage, in imessage settings turn on send as sms, turn on send as mms, turn off imessage - try to send to you. If still not then turn imessage back on.
Did you used to be on iphone?

@archibald88

give yours to him and test if possible

And if the message not arrived on PM side, there is nothing PM can do

But, it could also be the message arrived on PM side and not delivered to you.

Message support and see what they find. Give them the exact time your friend sent a message to you and see if support can trace

**Monitor your Community inbox (envelope icon on top right) after the ticket is opened.  CS Agent will reply to you there

(do the same thing with the other provider as well.  With the same test message, give the exact time and see if they can find the message left that provider  and passed to PM network)

We've already called their carrier, and they said I would need to contact my carrier.  We don't have an Android phone to use for testing, unfortunately.

@archibald88

if you don't see it on your usage log, then clearly the message does not reach PM server yet, it is a likely an issue on the sender side

Ask your friend to call his carrier and confirm

Ask you friend to test the sim on an Android phone instead (to avoid issue with iMessage, yes, I know it turned off, but just in case)

Yes I've already cleared the messages cache.   I spent a while yesterday googling and trying various solutions with no luck.  My account's usage log shows no incoming texts from them.

@archibald88

did you try to clear cache of the Google Message app?

if you have another phone, try to put your PM sim card there and see if it helps

Also, check My Account's usage log and see if it shows an incoming text from your friend

Yes, I can receive calls from them just fine.  We've checked our block lists already, no issues there.
