Can I port my phone number with Telus but keep my plan and get a new number?

Hello,

I would like to port my number to Telus and keep my plan with Public Mobile but get a new number. Is that possible?

Policy @computergeek541 ?

If a user is proposing it as a means of staying within the TELUS groups of family, why wouldn’t they do it?

policies at companies are almost always bent when it means additional revenue for them.

Because Telus and PM are within the same group of companies, if you were to change your number here with public mobile, and had pre-arranged for Telus to pull your existing number there, they may be able to do this.

It would just take some level of coordination between Telus and PM.

It's always been possible that it could be done, but policy forbids it.

You will need to get a new SIM and pay for a new plan/number with PM. At the same time, if you port your number to Telus…you will be paying for 2 plans and will need two phones or a phone with dual SIM tray.

It would be better to download the TextNow app and get a new number to get free wifi calling and texting for the second account.

@KandyKayne   once you ported out your number, account will be closed.

You can't pick a new number for your current PM plan either as you will loss your current number and hence can't be ported.  There is really no workarounds

@KandyKayne  No you can’t . You would just have to get a new Telus or give up the pm line if your port it out
