I dunno if I want to put up 30 bucks if it's a "might work" thing, but thanks for your help!

@Gwaiiguy $30/month! https://vpnstaticip.com

Yikes! A little rich for my blood. That would be a quarter of what they want to hook me to the fibre cable going past my house. (Yeah I know very frustrating that that is my only options, mobile data or 2g fibre)

@Gwaiiguy

Hmm, if NAT is the issue, static IP might not help. I think it's complaining that your ISP (Telus Mobility) has an internal IP and an external IP that are mapped to each other. Apparently Sony doesn't like that and wants a single IP reachable from the internet. I can't see Telus allowing this, for security reasons, but again it's not my area of expertise, just my best guess.

Good luck, let us know if you figure out a good solution!

@Gwaiiguy I did find an older reference from AT&T offering fixed IP for $500 setup plus an monthly fee. Didn't think that would interest you?

I think it it's more likely available with business account from the big 3.

I know right?! But apparently it's not that easy. If I tether the ps3 it tells me  nat3 and I can play online by myself😒. So not really too fun lol. I'm looking into the suggested dynamic dns service but I'm not real technologically savy. I would just like to play my outdated gaming system online.

@Gwaiiguy

Not my area of expertise, but are you sure you need a static IP? Why can't you just play online PS3 with a dynamic IP? The IP is only going to change if you detach from the cellular network. Sony's servers won't see any changes during an active gaming session.

Brilliant idea!  I never thought of that for the phone, but why not.  I do it for my home internet so I can ssh tunnel back home from elsewhere.  Nothing like making it look like the connection is originating from home.

If I had a reliable home internet, I wouldn't need to use my mobile data. I didn't ask if it would be the best use of a data plan. But I will ask if anyone has got a Nat 2 tether to ps3.

First, mobile data provider so far don't assign static  IPs

Second, why would you want to use your mobile data for that, it is very data intensive.

Some internet providers do have the ability to assign static IP. So just get the static IP from your internet service provider and use that instead.

I have never heard of being able to get a static IP for a wireless service.  Even for home internet, there is no guarantees of a static IP address.

I don't think this is possible.
