Hello,
Can you add Ukraine to International calling? I have international minutes and I’d like to use them to call my family and friends there.
thank you!

FYI: TextNow app provides free calls to Ukrainian numbers. No credit card required.

In my mind only….I picture as old and elegant in the cities and the country side to be a more rustic style perhaps with older equipment.

No doubt in my mind that Canadians are paying too much for most everything. And from my retail experience …, it is all gouging.

@CountyDownIeUk

There are plenty of options in Ukraine. It's not the war-torn third-world ex-soviet reject nation many people assume it to be. It enjoys a unique position which is sort of simultaneously European and Russian.

It's here in Canada that we don't have as many affordable, civilized options.

@Korth   So, I guess we are agree that we are Lucky that we are not Lucky?

Wow...hands down Lucky sucks compared to PM. The Ukraine add on at Lucky is 25 cents a minute plus taxes and will expire in a month if not used.

Yes and no. Lucky's per-minute rates to call this country are awful. But still better than Public Mobile's offer.

I haven't done any exhaustive Public vs Lucky comparisons and calculations. No need. Because the math immediately suggests that it'll always cost you more to pay for both products than you could save buying either one alone.

Telus does not offer its subscribers a long distance rate plan/add on for calling to Ukraine. Their rate is $2.50/min. It is highly unlikely that pm will ever offer a long distance add on that includes Ukraine.

Wow.....Telus is clearly not interested! But Lucky is...weird.

Would make more sense to do FaceTime over Apple devices over wifi. Buy some old 4S’s and ship to friends. Who knows what’s going to happen, if it does. Perhaps no wifi and cell towers out of commission? I hope not.

It is unfortunate that PM does not have calling to the Ukraine. Thus your friends choice to remain at Lucky. I guess everyone has their specific reasons to use other carriers. And no doubt there can be that “hassle” of changing. PM has improved their LD destinations. For your friend that would like to change back....what does he pay per minute for calls to Ukraine ? Does he buy an add on.....and can it expire before used up. I am thinking of....how can he change back and find a suitable alternative for the calls to the Ukraine...that is if the only thing he has an issue with is the Ukraine calling. Is calling to the Ukraine over wifi acceptable for your friend? I do see....calls to Ukraine are expensive per minute and PM probably did not have an LD group to cover the Ukraine and other countries.

@darlicious

Everyone is where they are due to needs, bad service elsewhere, etc. Same as collecting points and miles. 😀

$1 for 30 mins offer, otherwise 18.9¢/min from Rebtel:

TextNow app is 24¢/min USD.

@CountyDownIeUk

Correct. When I was with telus I only had 300 anytime minutes and free local calling from 7pm to 7am. In order for me to call my parents in nova scotia or my husband's family in Ireland we bought $5 calling cards with a 1 800 number to call first, then enter the calling cards pin # to get a dial tone to call out. The odd time the connection would be a bit iffy with an echo or slight delay but 90% of the time it was a great connection and dirt cheap especially back at the turn of the century when mobile rates were really outrageous but I used calliňg cards up until my partner got the 2012 promo $40 unlimited everything plan from wind...now...freedom.

I lost a referral a couple years ago - he calls family in Ukraine, Public Mobile doesn't have any long distance options to call Ukraine, Lucky Mobile does. He'd like to come back to PM (because his PM bill would cost less overall, especially with Lucky's awful per-minute rates to this country) but PM simply doesn't sell what he needs to buy.

So he's still with Lucky. PM defines and packages their long distance add-ons a little differently now. But they haven't added this country to their "International" list in the last two years. I doubt they will in the next two years.

@beardeddragon

I am surprised you can call Ukraine in the past but maybe PM changed their international coverage. You should private message a CS_Agent to check why you can connect to family in Ukraine in the past.

@beardeddragon

As far as your request of adding this country into allowed countries for using int'l minutes is concerned, I would say send a quick note to @CS_Agent will be the only way.

And as how to connect family and friends back home is concerned, you have ample suggestions in replies above.

I can pitch for WhatsApp audio and video calling over WiFi, I have used callselect in the past.

Sorry, Ukraine is not on the list of countries you can call on the international calling.

I have the minutes already; I was able to call before and suddenly I can’t.

It’s been eons ago since I had a calling card. If the special number is an 800 number, then maybe not a hit against your minutes.

I would say so. You have to call special number and then to continue dialing long distance.

Didn't the web site used to show what countries were in the 300 min international plan?

@CountyDownIeUk true for anyone on $15 plan So, it is better to use landlines with calling card in such case.

Same goes with VoIP app, 250Mb on $15 plan  will only last around 500 minutes.  So, it is best to use it on WiFi instead

No, that part of the world is not covered.

International calling is for calling from Canada to other countries: Canada, United States, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Venezuela

You can FaceTime Apple to Apple.

Or Skype

Find a Voip App that can call to Ukraine.

I have Voip.ms and the Zoiper App on my mobile phone.  It pretty much works world wide. Funds don’t expire until used up. .....$15 minimum top up is in US dollars.  PM me for more info if you like. You do not have to buy a DID and you can make your caller ID, your PM number.
