Call is being picked up by someone else?

I have just activated a new Public Mobile SIM yesterday.

I've noticed that the data, texting, and outbound calls are all working as expected.

However, for inbound calls, when I dial the number, I do not get ringed. Instead, someone else is picking up the phone (i.e. the call is routed to a complete stranger).

AFAIK there's no call forwarding setup.

Any thoughts on this?

Some research came up with this:

Since you picked a new number. Try rebooting your phone by powering off your phone and power the phone back on by holding down the power button. This might work or pick another number.

I could see that possibly working if the calls were going nowhere or were going to voicemail, but there going to someone else entirely. The call would have got routed to the other person through the network before it even reached the device.

@garyli1980 Maybe it just partially port your cell #.. It is not completed yet.

An incomplete number port would not cause someone else to answer calls to the customer's number.

Great, thanks for the explanation.

P.S. for everyone else: It was not a port, it was a new number assigned by PM during the SIM activation.

@garyli1980   you picked a new number when you activate?

this is a common glitch, PM might have given you a number that  belongs to someone else.  Since the other party is the original owner of the number, you have no choice but to pick another number 😞

Please login to My Account (My Account is currently down, so do it when it is up and running again) and then go to Profile page and Change Phone number to pick a new one
