Bought CAN-US-MEX plan; cannot connect to local cell service (currently in Cancun)

I signed up for the $35 CAN-US-MEX plan earlier this month with the intention of using it during our one week trip. I'm now in Cancun and no matter what I've tried, I've been unable to use any cell data on my iPhone (I'm just using wifi when available to me).

Cellular data is on, cell data roaming is on, I checked network selections (no options showing), I logged into my Public account to ensure I had the right plan currently active...what am I missing?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Leave it on Automatic network selection rather than manually selecting a specific network. This will ensure more fulsome coverage as you move around, because it will connect to the carrier with the best signal.

HI @Sasquatch75

yes, CS agent confirmed there are couple different networks you can use, but sometimes depends on the location

That's interesting . . . I'm in central Mexico (state of Guanajuato) with the plan and I'm on AT&T

I turned my phone on/off (doh, can't believe I didn't try that earlier!).

After checking network selection options again, I now only see Telcel available. I selected it and right away got 3 bars of service. Thanks for your reminder of doing the most basic of steps!

When I switched from LTE to 3G, I could see some options in the network selection options (Telcel, two AT&T, Movistar) after de-selecting "automatic [network selection]".

I tried selecting each of the options, but after waiting for a couple of minutes on each, I still had 0 bars of service. Could it be because I have a physical SIM instead of an eSIM?

I believe you have rebooted your phone, and as you have mentioned the ROAMING IS ON, hence you will have to contact CS to check the issue.

HI @AvB8

try changing the network mode to 4G or 3G and test

also, try manually connect to AT&T or Telcel

if both do not work, tell us what other carriers you see on the list on the Connection screen
