Hey community!

I am heading to US tomorrow but my membership expires while I will be there. I am planning to get the $30 add on for US minutes, text and data. Will this carry over to my new membership or will I have to buy another one?

TIA

Thanks for feedback @dust2dust @softech & @DennyCrane

Don’t think this is one experiment anyone of us would want to do.  😉

I've been in the US midway through the old 10 day roaming pass when my plan rolled over. There were no issues, it was seamless. I have autopay though, so the account never became suspended.

@HALIMACS I remember there was at least one post that ran into that situation, US add-on purchase cut account didn't renewes and roaming stops.  We advised the OP to pay and reactivate the account and he didn't come back and complain the need to re-buy another roaming addon.  So, I would say with confidence that the roaming will continue to work once the account is back to active

@smncaux

assuming you don't have a credit or debit card set to Autopay...what you could do is; before you go, get payment vouchers at Shell gas. Get enough $$ to cover regular plan renewal...then dial 611 to add them to your account. Then when your regular plan expires, it'll renew seamlessly using the $$ you have previously put on your account.

I'd recommend you consider putting credit or debit card on your account and set to Autopay. Then you won't have to worry about renewal again.

You could even get one of those pre-paid Vanilla credit cards for your PM account...available at 7-11 and Walmart among others.

@HALIMACS- I've never tested the boundary. The only part that would be obvious is that if the account does suspend that nothing would work. But again, I haven't tested all of these permutations of your questions. Nor have I read of others doing so.

I know it will continue on with the day counter if the account renews while a roaming add-on is active is about all I can say for sure.

OK, I get that it would stop working @softech .   Makes sense.

Would it still be there if the account is paid and resumed or would a user have to re-purchase?

If it's still on the account, would the 15-day clock continue to run, or would it only count 15 days on active service?

🤔

@HALIMACS from what I understand, it will stop working once the plan is suspended due to non-payment 🙂

Interesting discussion @softech  & @dust2dust

Curious.   If a user has a US Add on and the plan expires DURING the 15 days, will the 15 days continue from the date of purchase even if the account is suspended -or- will the addon expire -or- will the 15 days also suspend until the account is renewed?

thoughts?

@smncaux if membership expired meant account is now suspended for non payment, then you will need to resume your service first to buy and use roaming

As long as you successfully renew then it will continue to work. An idea might be to deposit enough money to cover the expected plan cost along with the add-on cost.

It will carry over until the 15 days has expired, presuming your renewal has sufficient funds to cover or you are on autopay.
