Add on price

I read somewhere on the community by a fellow member that the add ons are all on sale.

I don’t think that is true. From what I know only the 1GB add on is for a limited time sale.

Is this correct? Just wanted to make sure

@darlicious

Yes we both do, but unevenly distributed! Working on evening things up a bit now.

But... there is NO $20 referral bonus currently, is there? Just making sure I didn’t miss something.

AE_Collector

@AE_Collector

Oh right.....you already have referrals. What about the wife?

@darlicious

$20 referral bonus? (Ears perked up)...

Wishful thinking I guess...

AE_Collector

@darlicious, not even close. But, someone in the community who would pass my referral code to the mother-in-law. This person has a very kind heart and soul. I won't name this person nor shall I give the identity either, but they know who they are.

It's nice to have a community that cares for one another. I truly hope this continues even after the storm calms down.

okay, i have to go and watch another barbie friend show with my girls...make this madness stop!

@AE_Collector

I'm happy your suggestion was implemented so quickly by public mobile it gave me an opportunity to spend some credit and purchase a couple of 1gb add ons of 4G data for my $10 plan. It's nicely stocked with 5gb now.

@mpcdesign  All you need now is that first referral and a bonus $20 credit. You must have someone in your sights! Im two weeks from free!

@brettster99  The phone can be a real time waster. When you know you have limited plan data and you have to dip into more expensive add on data (even at half price) you'll have a tendency to put it down til your on WiFi and you'll find your getting a lot more accomplished during your day. Getting you phone as close as you can to free is freeing too!

Congrats on achieving a phone bill of $1. Hopefully, I would be able to achieve that next month.

I did the same to @brettster99, I was on the $40 plan a but as freelancing kinda stopped in its tracks, I also looked at stepping down to a cheaper plan. I actually had @darlicious who helped shaped my plan as I was going to step down to the $25 plan, but she suggested the $15 plan and getting the extra add-ons.

My plan went into effect last April, but for the month of May, my plan was only $1 buck. Yep, $1 buck. How awesome is that!

I went to the $50 8.5GB plan to the $40 5GB plan because of this pandemic (And I wanted some insurance in case I went over)  But I want to spend a lot less time on my phone so I decided today to drop to the $15 plan. And use an app to check my usage and warn me if I get close to data limit and I hardly even call anyone and I still have the bonus free holiday add ons for mins so I’m good.

I’m doing this to both cut my phone addition and save money

Effectively that would be the $25/1Gb, $30/2Gb, $35/3Gb, $40/5Gb scenario which I agree would be the IDEAL scenario for plan prices letting everyone slot into their ideal plan. That works out to $5 per Gb or less but isn’t “quite” as lucrative as Roll Over Data add-ons because you still lose any unused data at renewal. But with that many plans to chose from and the Incremental cost per extra Gb of the next higher priced plan, no one is going to complain about it not rolling over. If PM were a free standing competing company I would expect to see a large selection of plans like that.

AE_Collector

@AE_Collector   Yes, I'd agree, I can't see anyone complaining if they could purchase  data as they need it (even if it expires) as long as the price was more realistic.  I think PM would actually get a better return if 1GB could be purchased for $5 per 30 days, as long as they also kept the non-expiring data available for customers who don't use data as frequently as others that is.  😊

Yes I also prefer your plan selections too, unfortunately, we don't make the decisions...oh well.

@dabr

Of course it isn’t “just” a gig of data for $15. It is a gig of Roll Over Data for $15 which makes it a viable option for hose who are pushing whatever plan they are in to the limit and hoping to not run out of data before they run out of month. Somewhat cheap insurance is specific scenarios.

AE_Collector

@AE_Collector   Yes I know the "roll over" part of these add-ons is what makes them worthwhile.  I also purchased couple of "gigs" myself at the discounted price and since I use WIFI most of the time, they should last a long time as the free data add-on gifts are still untouched in my account  😊

But ideally, in addition to the non-expiring data add-ons, PM should make available 30 day usage of  1GB data for $5 for customers who have used up their plan data allotment and this would tide them over until their renewal.  I think a lot more data would be sold this way, even if it expired after 30 days.

They might keep it at this price. Considering I bought $120 worth (8GB) of add on data I would never have bought even 1GB at $30 LOLOL 😂🤣😂

@brettster99   Wow!  that's quite a lot of money even at the discounted price, but I'm assuming you expect it to last a long while for it to be cheaper in the long run rather than paying for an upgraded plan 😊

But I'd agree with you that probably a lot more add-on data has been bought by customers at this discounted price than before.  I hope it stays at $15 too...

It made the data add-on a viable choice.

Yes I was quite surprised at the quick response to my “idea/suggestion” of lower priced data add-ons as opposed to “free data” handouts for Covid-19. As you say, someone does listen to us here which of course doesn’t mean any and all ideas will be implemented but obviously my suggestion didn’t have to go to the next shareholders meeting to be voted on, it was implemented over night. Going forward, no idea what will happen but it is the only remaining Covid-19 reaction still in play at PM I believe.

Under PMs plan structure I think $15/Gb for a non expiring add-on is a good value point all things considered. There IS an increased value in a non expiring add-on but the price still encourages one to consider being more locked in to a larger monthly plan cost to get more data if more data is constantly needed. That is where I would really like to see more options between the $25/1Gb and $40/5Gb plans. 1,2, 3 & 5 Gb Plans would be exceptional But even if the $35 plan that they finally seem to be playing with a little bit lands at $30/2Gb OR $35/3Gb it will provide a much needed mid point plan option.

@AE_Collector

Did you remember it was your ask that brought the mic drop price drop? You've got to love your mobile provider that actually listens to their customers and gives them what they want even when you're just musing about it.

Our extracurricullar activities at the end of this month will not only put me in the $0 phone bill (×2) it also gives me the 2 months at the lake (or in your case the cabin) $40 plan free as well. 2 more weeks and I never have to pay for a phone bill ever again. Achieved in 10 months with public mobile and represents a savings of $1008 a year from my previous providers bills. Freedom 51?!!

I FINALLY found the announcement of the data add-on price reduction. It is on page 3 of this topic:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/Data-limits-during-confinement/td-p/51990...

Since both data add-ons were included in the announcement by Alan and I knew that the 1Gb was cut to 1/2 Price I just assumed that the 200Mb add-on was Cut to half price as well. Maybe not.

BF75724A-2AC6-47F4-BDEC-C6FB886D1442.jpeg

@AE_Collector  To the best of my recollection only the 1gb was reduced in price. The 200mb has always been $10.

Okay, that’s enough time wasted looking for it! Allan K made the announcement in an existing topic, I thought to one where they announced to free US roaming add-ons to get people home late March. But I can’t find it in there. I thought both add-ons were mentioned As being cut in price but maybe just the 1Gb dropped in price. paid no attention because who would get a 200 rather than 1000 Mb add on for only slightly less $.

AE_Collector

Will have to go back and find the announcement as I distinctly recall Allan saying that both the 1Gb and the smaller (200Mb?) add-on were on sale, 1Gb at half price and smaller one for $10 but I never looked to see if it was lower price or half price. I sort of think it was $20 normally or $30 for 1Gb.

The Reference to the 1Gb 4G add-on is likely MORE confusion about the 1Gb DATA ONLY PLAN, not an add-on.

For as long as I know the 200MB has always been $10. It's not the one on special.

I think there is also a 200 Mb data add-on that is on sale for $10.

@mpcdesign

        It looks like I'm late to the party....seems eeverything has been clarified. The 1gb data add on is currently half price at $15 and is 4G LTE throttled to 3mbps. The data only plan , grandfathered plans that were originally 4G and the grandfathered $10 50/50 no included data plan all recieve full speed 4G data.

        The $5/500min add on has been that price since its introduction as @dabr  has kindly mentioned. I suggested to @mpcdesign  when he was considering downgrading his plan because the shelter in place directive had dropped his usage that the $25 plans features seemed to be more than needed at that time. @shoops  purchasing the calling and data add ons means you have mire control over your usage/money spent thru several months of likely low usage....but if heavier use is needed they are on your account for those situations. Otherwise plan data and unlimited calling just renew used or not. If you only need an extra 100 min of outgoing calling and 200mb of data each month that adds $4 to your monthly plan cost of $15.

        Anytime in the future that your monthly usage is anticipated to increase you can schedule or do an immediate plan change to a plan with unlimited calling and more plan data. The balance left on the add ons will remain on your account until needed....if you run out of plan data or you downgrade again. Maximum flexibility in controlling the cost of your mobile services to suit your monthly needs.

@shoops  I'm on the same $15 plan as you. To save more, add the TextNow voip app and use it via Wifi to make / receive / send calls and texts in Canada and to the United States for free. You can also use it as I do to check my voicemail from my own phone without using the minutes from the PM plan. Simply dial your PM phone number - reject the call when it rings (this sends the call to voicemail) - press the * key to allow you to enter your password. - enter it followed by #  - and you are in your voicemail account - Hang up when you are finished. No minutes used.

@shoops   The 1GB data is on sale for now, but yes that's a good investment as both add-ons will stay on your account until depleted. 😊

@dabr,Good to know about the $5 add-on. there is still the $30 for the 1 gig add-on too (4G LTE) versus the 3G which can be carried over if not used up.

I never needed the $5 for 500 minutes, as I always had unlimited calls, and I was debating on changing my plan since February.

@mpcdesign   Yes the 1GB add-on data is currently at half price ($15), but the speed will be defaulted to your plan speed, so if you have the $10 plan (no longer offered), then you will get the 4G speed, but all the other plans are 3G speeds barring the $30 data only plan and any prior grandfathered in plans of course.  Edit:  Yes all domestic add-ons don't expire until used up.
