5G+ versus 5G

In some parts of my city, I sometimes switch over to 5G+ instead of just normal 5G.  I'm on an iPhone.

Anybody know what the difference is?  What's the technological difference?

Yes, maybe just seeing that may make you feel we will get more speed but, without plus or with plus, for the time being, gives the same speed
I guess it used to be a thing with LTE & LTE+
They do have difference in speeds!

hi @Shubh2023 I find those + make it confusing sometime.  For me, speed pretty much same with or without

Wow, you can see 5G+ now? That's cool
As other mentioned, the speed may stay the same but, you may just see it! I noticed that 4G speeds (LTE+) does give you speeds till 160+ Mbps too and 5G sometimes goes over 250+ in Vancouver!
Hope we get more speeds or everyone gets 5G+ haha 🤞
Good day!

the 5G+ icon is about the 5G channel it is using, don't confuses with the 1Gbps 5G+ plans Telus offering

@mig39 One last bit of info - the reason this is showing up now is that iOS 17.4, released last week, added the 5G+ icon for Telus brands including Public Mobile.  You were likely getting the exact same connections before - it's just that the icon wasn't reflecting it.

@mig39 - That is just the 5G 3500mhz band kicking in. It also resembles standalone 5G.

@mig39  5G with PM is up to 250mbs speed 5G+ is up to 2GBps with Telus bell or rogers . pM does not  have 5G+ speeds . So it’s nothing more than the display you see on your phone . You still be throttled to 5G speeds or 4G speeds up to 100mbs  depending on the plan you have . .

hi @mig39

the 5G+ is also 5G but on a new channel that Telus uses. Speed is the same as 5G
