29$ Canada-US-Mexico plan

With this plan, I understand that I will be able to place calls to this locations from Canada.  However, will I still need to purchase and add-on in order to use my phone in the U.S.?

I have a Samsung S20 FE.  I didn’t see it on the list in the link.  However I have used my phone in the US before. I travel there twice a year to visit my mother and before just bought an add-on so I could use my phone there and it has always worked well.  I decided to switch to this plan as it’s a better deal, so will my phone still work like before?

you can use data and call within the 3 countries, Canada/US/Mexico all for free, all included in the plan

no , you don't.  You can make calls in US to Canada and Mexico for free.  Similarly, you can make calls in Mexico to US and Canada for free

So, no extra addon needed

and what phone do you have? if your phone is not on Pm's VOLTE list, then you might have a bit trouble to make and receive calls.  But if it is on the PM's VoLTE whitelist, you would be fine

Negative. This is an all in one plan. You can make and take calls while in the US as if you were in Canada AND use your data too. No addons required.

The Canada US Mexico plan is an all inclusive plan. You can use this plan to call the US and Mexico from Canada and also use this plan while in the US and while in Mexico and use it as if you were home.

It's very important however to make sure your phone is on the VoLTE approved list. It's a bit outdated but worth looking into.
