12gb promo plan

I wish PM would respond to other providers who have special loyalty plans such as Rogers who offers unlimited calling/texting etc. and 4gb per month for 50 CAD. PM does that only for those who switch from Freedom to PM. Would be nice if they also open that option for current customers though... Other providers start in reaction giving promo plans too... So, I'd like to encourage PM to do the same for the current customers... Would keep the customers happy and... stay with PM 🙂

@reveh2109 while I agree with you and others that wish this was more generally available, I think PM are actually being very smart about this promo (though I hate to admit it).  They're never going to make a significant impact to Rogers (nor Telus or Bell, of course), just given the enormity of that provider.  However, Freedom is a much closer competitor and the more they can chip away at FM's subscriber base and revenue stream, the slower FM will be at expanding their network into something that can (eventually) actually compete with the awesome, mature Belus network that PM runs on.  Other providers that you pointed out have caught wind of this attack and are also honing in.  They're hoping to damage both FM and PM by matching.  PM has little to gain by opening this up to Rogers, Telus, Bell subscribers.  You could argue they could open it to other flanker brands like Fido and Virgin, but that's just going to again piss off the big guys and put a target on their back.  FM is a much more realistic "target".  And offering up the plan to existing customers would then present another loophole where people could port in to any in-market plan at PM and then schedule a plan change.  So if they need to target FM specifically, and it's probably a good tactic at the moment, then they have to prevent current customers, sadly.

All the above is purely speculation and opinion.

Agreed! I would love to see the 12gb promo plan for existing PM customers. I've been waiting for the promo for months since I missed it back in November. Disappointing that they are only offering it to customers who switch from Freedom Mobile.

Can't +1 that statement enough @will13am
Public Mobile is still cheaper than where I was but the new promo leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

TBH, I think PM should offer on 90 Day:

3GB:  $35

6GB   $45

9GB   $57

12GB  $68

15GB  $77

18GB  $88

On a 30 Day:

1GB   $14

2GB   $22

3GB   $30

4GB   $40

6GB   $60

I also think better rewards to offset the fees a bit.

BUT, Also, the reason for more data, If Services become more Data reliant, might Data be the answer to Contain the Out of Control Fees Canadians pay day after day?

Yes, I do agree.

PM needs to offer Higher Payloads of Data for great rate, because as it is, Canadians are paying way too much.

Sometimes, what the Country needs is 6 Carriers per Province, & Not Primary and Sub-Brands, BUT actual Independant Brands to lower the Costs, as it is, Canadians are missing out on opportunities

There's still something intrinsically wrong about offering a better deal to customers of another provider. I came over from Bell because I didn't want to give that company any more of my money, even though I had a significant loyalty discount and a far better deal than most Bell customers could get—without a contract too.

This Freedom promo gives the other (majority) PM customers a bad taste in their mouths, especially the ones that advertised and referred new customers to them. If they don't give a better deal, eg. more data, more people will leave PM for their direct competitors.

PM can either take the intitiative now and reap the rewards or try to come up with another desperate promo further down the road when a bunch of their customers have already walked away. Ball's in their court but the clock is ticking down.

I think there a reason behind this promo. Rogers fido bell and koodo are high end prices they always kind of compete with each other. Let's sey if Rogers user paying 80 or 90 dollar for 5gb with unlimited call and text then for those pm prices are already way cheaper even without promo. That's why they don't bother offering promo to them. Real competition for public mobile is with lower end carrier like freedom chatr and zoomer type of carrier. Because of their plan and prices are comparable that's why pm offer bit cheaper plan to get their clients. And happy to say that pm do get their business not because of price only but also freedom and chatr users some how know pm reception and quality and let network is solid and way better then them. And there's nothing they can do other then watching peoples leaving them and joining pm. I was with freedom for almost 7 years i didn't move to pm to save money. I moved to get better service and satisfaction with peace of mind. If it's about price i won't leave freedom.

I know fido is giving a promo offer since pm gave one and they started it at 45$ which includes canada wide calling. Personally believe nothing can beat public promo right now as it is at a great price.

Never mind responding to Rogers.  We had a healthy discussion right after this promo was announced about treatment of existing customers.  The most loyal people are those that are already customers, potentially paying more for less than what this promo offers.  Yeah, this targeted sale sucks lemons.

Totally agree!

Yep, 2GB per month is a joke. Up the ante PM or you're going to lose more customers.
