1 GB of data suddenly running out

I've been using public mobile for about 5 years now, I've always had the same plan throughout- unlimited nation wide talk and text as well as 1gb of data. I have never had problems while using this plan. For the past few months now, I have noticed that something has been up with my data- where I have never had the problem of my data running out before my plan renews itself, it is suddenly running out not even half way through my plan renewal date.

I have now been going through great lengths and have been making a conscientious effort to conserve my data so that it doesn't run out before my plan renews itself, but unfortunately it still always runs out.

I haven't changed my phone, and it seems as though everything is the same as to before I was experiencing this issue so I'm wondering what's going on here; why am I suddenly running into this issue after having never had a problem with it before? Any insights? What can I do to change this?

Thank you for you for your help in advance!

You're right about the iOS manual reset. However to troubleshoot issue such as this one, all you have to do is to hit "Reset Statistics" under Settings->Cellular at the bottom of the page, and start monitoring data consumption of each app.

@Gandalf  for Android yes, you just have to tweak the cycle start date and the total usage and app usage since the beginning of the cycle you set will be updated

For iPhone, it is kind of NO.  iPhone keeps the data counter running since last reset day.  So, if people do not reset it monthly or at the beginning of each cycle, the counter is not really useful for data tracking

You might want to check new apps installed on your phone, looks for such apps as Waze navigation app that transmit location and traffic data and get itself update continuously, even in the background.

@funto   It could be random update from an app or cloud backup , from sync, or from an email with some attachment

Check on My Account,  Usage History page.  Filter for the time within your cycle and look for Data traffic.  See if the traffic make sense

And see if you can compare it with your phone.  If you are on Android, then yes, you can

On Android, check the Mobile Data usage page, make sure you change the cycle start date to match your PM's cycle

Hopefully you can tell which app wasted the data in this cycle
