From August 23rd until September 13th, 2018, you and your friend can each get a $25 credit when you refer them to Public Mobile and they activate online.

Taking advantage of this promo is easy. Just follow these steps:

As a Public Mobile customer you need to:

  1. Be a good pal and refer a friend to Public Mobile.
  2. Tell your friend that they need to successfully activate online on a 30 or 90-day plan during the promotional period and include you as their referrer in order to be eligible for the promotion.
  3. The one-time $25 credit will be applied to your Self-Serve account within 72 hours of your friend’s online activation. In addition, you will continue to be eligible for the $1 referral credit off your monthly bill for as long as your friend stays with Public Mobile.

 

Your friend will need to:

  1. Activate a Public Mobile SIM card online on any 30 or 90-day plan at activate.publicmobile.ca.
  2. Enter your active Public Mobile phone number on the referral page during the activation process. Be sure they enter your number and not their own so you get credit for the referral.
  3. The one-time $25 credit will be applied to their Self-Serve account within 72 hours of activation.

  1. If I am referred and then I refer a friend or family member am I eligible for both sender and receiver rewards?
    Yes, you are. This means that you would receive one $25 credit for being referred. Then, after activating with Public Mobile, you are eligible to take part in this promotion as a referral sender and earn $25 Refer-a-Friend credits during the promotional period. Learn more here.
  2. I am a Legacy customer. Am I eligible for these rewards?
    Legacy customers are not eligible for rewards. However, Legacy customers’ referrals are eligible for this offer, and can receive a one-time $25 account credit.

  3. As the referral receiver, am I eligible for the ongoing $10 Refer a Friend Reward credit, as well as this $25 Refer a Friend credit?
    No, these credits are not stackable. Instead, you will receive a total of $25 via an account credit, rather than the ongoing $10 Refer-a-Friend Reward credit.
  4. When does this promotion end?
    This promotion will end September 13, 2018 11:59PM EST.

    Referral sender (current Public Mobile customer)

    • All existing Refer a Friend eligibility requirements and rules apply. To learn more, visit publicmobile.ca/rewardrules.
    • While Legacy customers are not eligible for Public Mobile Refer a Friend rewards, Legacy customers’ referrals are eligible for this offer, and can receive a one-time $25 account credit.
    • You and your referee have to accept these terms to participate in the program.
    • You can only refer individuals with whom you have a personal or family relationship to ensure compliance with Canada's anti-spam legislation.  
    • You can’t refer yourself or an existing Public Mobile customer.
    • TELUS team members, contractors, sales representatives acting on TELUS's behalf and associates at retail locations who receive special pricing are excluded from this promotion.

    Referral receiver (your friend)

    • Must activate on a 30 or 90-day plan with Public Mobile.
    • You must input the referral information (referrer’s Public Mobile phone number) during your activation.
    • You and your referrer have to accept these terms to participate in the program.
    • After activating with Public Mobile, you are eligible to take part in this promotion as a referral sender.

@hellenz as the previous poster stated, the $25 for you was only available via online activation.

 

You've stated in your message, the sims were activated at Walmart.

 

You missed out on this as your friends activated in store.

This promo of $25 for referrer and new customer is for online activations only.

 

In store, the Walmart promo is a free SIM and $25 promo credit for the new customer, plus the regular $10 referral credit. As the referrer, you just get the regular $1/30 days for your referrals who activate in store.

I refered 2 new accounts on Aug 30, bought the sim card at walmart and activated there. Why I didn't get $25 reward?

1) Yep, any new PM account qualifies, whether you port a number over or get a new number.

2) Any 30 or 90 day plan qualifies, even the $10 plan.

Maybe offer to get your friend or referral a $5 gift card if they do it online or literally hand them $5 to make the difference null and void. 😉


I think the one situation where online referral can still be better is if you are doing self-referral or are being referred by someone in your household, and all the bills are being paid out of the same pot anyways. 

Should stop using 3rf party retail as they keep screwing up.  Should only be using Telus owned/leases/rented locations to do any form of retail presence.  Would be far fewer issues.

Online activation gives $40 in value. 

$25 activation 

$25 referral 

-$10 for paid sim card

 

Walmart activation gives $45 in value. 

$25 activation 

$10 referral

You are better off going the free sim in store activation than paying for sim and going it yourself. Now if sims were free then online would be king.

To share my experience with getting a SIM card from Walmart:

 

Just order ONLINE.

 

I told my friend to get a SIM card from Walmart without activation, and he was told by the sales there that he could activate in store and still get the $25 credit reward each. My friend got swayed and I ended up getting only $1/30day referring reward, with no $25 credit.

 

I was pissed, though it doesnt make a difference for the referred friend...

It is confusing with two different promotions going on at the same time. 

 

There is this promotion with online, at home activation which gives both parties $25 referral credit (need to buy own SIM card). 

 

The other promotion is the Walmart and London drugs in store activation which gives you free SIM card, $25 credit and regular $10 friend credit. 

 

Unfortunately, these promos do not stack together.  For new customers, it is better to do in store activation.  For established PM customers like us, it would nice to refer with this online promo since we also get the $25 credit, instead of the normal $1 monthly credit.

1) Promo credits can take up to 72 hours to show in your account (though usually within 24 hours).

2) Did you sign up online? This promo is only for online activations - if you signed up in store it's the regular referral reward of $10 for the new customer and $1/30 days for the referrer.

Everyone here has been beyond reasonably helpful and have provided all the details that you need. Particularly cappaj several posts above.

You already have a SIM. I assume you have an active account. Remove the SIM from your broken phone and insert it into whatever new phone you get. You MIGHT have an issue with the card size. We'll cross that bridge when you get there.

Yes. It's that easy. You got here somehow before. Surely you can get it going again. Unless somebody else did it all for you before.

Maybe be your phone is locked and you need to get it unlocked  first 

if the sim is activated properly I’m not sure what else it could be

hiw did you activate the sim? I’m store or online?

You will also have to purchase a Sim card and then follow the activation instructions on the PM website. If the later is not possible  then just visit a Telus kiosk or go to Walmart and ask for help.

Well, you're barely told where to find them - the Community forum is confusing for people who don't normally come here. 

 

I'm not saying people who were confused deserve to get the credit or something - just that it wouldn't be too hard for PM to reduce that confusion, and I guess have less disappointed customers?

You can sign up to Public Mobile in store at several retailers - Walmart, WOW mobile boutique, London Drugs, and K-Mobile are all options. Just show up in person and ask to sign up with Public Mobile- they'll help you activate your account and give you a SIM card. As long as you have a phone you can put the SIM into, you'll be set.
