@joseelafreniere

You can try smaller communities surrounding Montreal that may still have the (514) area code available.

This looks neat, would this mean @joseelafreniere will need to travel to one of those locations to activate in order to obtain the area code?

The "travel time" is quick, just need to change the city from the dropdown at the number choosing page

@Tiprix

Lol...no just choose the area from the menu as described by @softech. You can choose any area of Canada you want if there is a number available in the change number feature in your self serve. I use @Nezgar 's suggestion of selecting Sechelt in order to get referrals a (604) phone number for Vancouver since both (604) and (778)  are very difficult to get in the Metro Vancouver area.

@joseelafreniere

@Anonymous   the day is beautiful but you are not answering OP question at all.   I am pretty sure OP knows how to activate online, OP just does not know how to activate with a number with 514 area code.    🙂

at least for now, OP is not happy and not enjoying the beautiful service yet

@softech

i know,

when they Activated then will enjoying the beautiful service..

There are cheap ($5) area code 514 numbers currently at numberbarn.com in Montréal and Sainte-Geneviève.

Otherwise, if you REALLY want a 514, and actually live in Montreal, you can call up the local incumbent or competitive local exchange carrier (BELL) or other competitor and ask if you sign up if they could assign you a 514 number. If so, temporarily sign up with a land line through them, which you can then port out the number to Public Mobile or anywhere else.

Montreal is lucky... only $5

Ontaio 905.. $89

Ontario 416  $79

.. but BC 604 also $5

Just checking voip.ms.... all available for 85c per month:

  • Montreal 514... 264 numbers in 33 prefixes
  • Ontario 905, 9 numbers in Markham, Newmarket, Oshawa, South Pickering, St. Catharines-Thorold, Streetsville, & Thornhill
  • BC 604 - 2 Vancouver numbers starting with 604-401 & 604-771.

Edit: voicemeup.com also showing inventory of 112 Montreal area code 514 numbers, various in stock/on order availability across 905, 13 Toronto 416 numbers, 604 various availability. I think voicemeup's connections to CLECs and ILECs like Telus & Bell give it a bit more availability than voip.ms & numberbarn that mostly seem to have availability only from iristel.

Hehe I should buy up the 416 numbers and resell them on eBay lol
