Some Interesting Facts Regarding 5G Plans

Stelawrat

Not having an interest in 5G plans, I was unaware of the potential problems associated with reception & of how that impacts the construction industry, among others.

I found the following information to be interesting & feel it might be of some benefit to others as well.

Jan. ‘24: Canada 5G Network Availability | WhistleOut

4G LTE offers fast speeds and reliable connectivity. 4G LTE is widely available in Canada, covering over 99% of the population. But 4G LTE isn’t as fast as 5G; unfortunately, there’s no way to upgrade your 4G LTE phone to 5G. To get 5G quality, you need a 5G phone.

If you have a 5G-capable phone but use a 4G LTE plan, you’ll need to switch to a 5G plan to get 5G speeds. If your carrier offers 5G, that’s an easy upgrade. If your provider doesn’t have a 5G network, switching to another carrier and keeping your current phone number is just as easy.

Compared to Europe, North America is already very mature in terms of integrating Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solutions into buildings. However, having a DAS for today’s requirements does not mean you are future-ready for the needs of 5G.

I'm a true luddite on 5g as it has no use at all for me. Have been perfectly satisfied with 3G! 🤣

5G definitely does have to process more than LTE so it will use a little bit more of your battery usage.

I have 5g, but set phone to LTE... I feel its fast enough and maybe its just my imagination, but battery lasts longer... que the conspiracy theorists!

hi @Stelawrat

5G is great if the area has it, coverage still an issue
