I'm was advise by Oracle on this forum that if one pays for 5G with up to 250 mbps speeds -- even set to  LTE you would still get speeds up to 250MBPS.  HOWEVER according to a google search this may not be the case -- cut and pasting -->

Speed: 5G can reach speeds of up to 20 Gbps, while LTE offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps. 5G is 10 to 100 times faster than 4G LTE in real-world settings.

You missed off the few words before that which was that the plans on Public Mobile are throttled.  So I think where you're getting confused is that a 5G plan is throttled to 250Mbps whether your phone says 5G or LTE, but on a 4G plan then speed is throttled to 100 Mbps.  It's the plan that makes the difference.  As I said earlier, yesterday I got 194Mbps when my phone was on LTE but I have a 5G plan so not limited to 100Mbps.

OK - now you cleared up my confusion - As you stated , I have always understood the speeds that can be had with 5G but I am more concerned as to the 5G and 4G speeds that can be reached while on the PM network. So the following are the indicated throttled speeds on the PM network.  "Public Mobile are throttled to 250Mbps on 5G and 100Mbps on 4G/LTE,"

Your reference found on Google's search engine is providing entirely incorrect information.  LTE can absolutely go much faster than 100Mbps.  Speeds of about 1Gbps are possible on LTE networks.

So when you state that this is not the case and that LTE can reach speeds to 1Gbps - do you mean that 4G on PM can reach these higher speeds?????

No, of course not.  I am saying that LTE networks are capable of that.  Once again, when Public Mobile says 4G plan or 5G plan, they are not referring to the network type.  The maximum speeds are whatever Public Mobile advertises.  First and foremost, one does not need to be connected to the 5G network to get faster than 100Mbps speeds at Public Mobile.  Anything information stating otherwise should be disregarded as it's not correct.

@Phil_Adelphus  Yes , my point was basically 4G/5G with public mobile is almost the same speed in real world usage in most cases . Unless one has perfect conditions of non congestion in the network and sitting under the tower testing. Even then it might be 1 second quicker to load webpage

@Handy1   I sometimes connect on 5G+ on PM (according to my phone anyway) depending where I am but it's still throttled to about 250Mbps max.  I have got a little higher but not that much.

@Immune  5G is up to 250MBs 5G+ is up 2GBps 

but PM only has regular 5G and on paper is sounds twice as fast as 4G up to 100mbs but in reality it’s maybe half second faster to 1 second quicker on regular 5G then 4G but that only in perfect world situation if  one sitting under the tower testing . If most every case the difference is not even noticeable to the naked eye . I have 5G+ plan with Telus and best I’ve gotten with speed test is around 700mbs so not even half the advertised speed of up to 2GBps

@Immune  Remember the plans in Public Mobile are throttled to 250Mbps on 5G and 100Mbps on 4G/LTE, so they are the maximum possible on those networks with this carrier.  In other words you won't get higher than 100Mbps on a 4G plan with PM, and you won't get (much) higher than 250Mbps on a 5G plan, but if you have a 5G plan then LTE is no longer throttled to 100Mbps and can go way higher.

@Immune  I don't think I've ever quite got to 250Mbps on LTE here although I have on 5G.  But yesterday I did a speedtest on LTE and the result was 194Mbps download and 10.9Mbps upload, so it's plenty fast enough.
