I seem to have started some threads that have gotten a few replies, but when I am trying to reply to them, I get a bit lost.
Is there a way to quote a specific message in a thread? I can quote, but it adds everything and then I have to go through it and delete everything outside of the message.

@softech Yep, as I discovered not too long ago! 😂 Makes sense though..

I know some fora which do not include the signature in the quote. I will suggest to PM to exclude the signature in the quote.
How easy this can be done depends on whether the signature is treated as separate component from the body component. If the current software treats the body and signature as homogeneous group of words in each post, it will take longer and cost more to exclude the signature from the body.
I did some testing. Community software does exclude members signature in the quote.
But keep in mind, it only exclude real members signature and not the manual signatures 🤣

@johnprince - only Oracles have the ability to add signatures to posts, no one else. That was an intentional copy/paste of information and space.
After reading the whole thread, I finally understand your question. The answer is YES. If a member is adding the same information at the end of his/her posts, it will create the problem that you are talking about.
NO. We cannot selectively to exclude the signature and only quote the body only unless PM wants to upgrade the community software in the future.
Although I can add a signature to my posts, but I do not because I do not want members reading my posts misinterpret my signature as part of my post. This is another reason for not having a signature.

@johnprince if you are trying to reply to those specific posts of someone else you would need to choose the "Reply" button of that particular post, then QUOTE it and tag that person (which is helpful if you are directly your response to them).
Does that make sense?
It has been previously figured out.
Yes.

@dabr wrote:@johnprince You want the entire message or just partial part of the entire message? Both have already been mentioned earlier. Which is to copy and paste for partial quote and then put that part in quotation marks and you can add @johnprince wrote: at the beginning of that part? You did say you could quote the entire message but wanted to quoted only smaller more relevant part right?
@hairbag1 @esjliv he did tag me so he knows how to use the @key 😊
@dabr @johnprince ....I see that now, yes.

Aha! Thats it. Looks as if you click on the main reply button it gives you all of it... but the reply of the specific post does it (as per my clicking on reply to your post in this thread)

The entire message, not the entire thread, as previously stated.
No.

Yep - your message was two independent things - which were apparently the same thing. Either way - figured out. 🙂

Thanks for the clarification.
Lol.. - to go to the effort of doing that to direct me to contact customer support for such a simple thing is absurd.

type the 'AT SYMBOL = @' then you will see other members names populate in the thread, this is tagging someone.
You can also tag anyone not included in the thread if you know their username.
edit - you just did it with @dabr , i just realized!! hahaha

No, I want the entire message quoted for which I am clicking on reply for, just not the entire thread. What is "Vern space"?

You could do what I just did. A member are other customers responding to you in this forum. Just use the @key and you'll see a list of other users in this conversation and then click the one you are responding to.

If you only want a portion of something you could copy and paste and then put italicize and/or bold it.. And Vern space it and put it in quotes so as not to leave any question or to confuse anyone
05-08-2022 07:11 PM
What is adding a member?
05-08-2022 07:10 PM
That's a terrible thing to have to have a workaround for.
That was directed to my query? I just thought that was the signature of that user. Not something I would contact customer support about.
