iPhone Support for non-iPhone Group Text Messaging

Edit: Looks like PM has added this feature in the lastest carrier setting update! Check out @luddite post below for details on how to update to the latest (version 28.3) carrier settings! 

This is one of the biggest things I've noticed missing since switching over from Rogers. My iPhone used to be able to handle and group non-iPhone text messages together. Since switching to PM I now end up with multiple, separate, disjointed text messages from group chats I have going that include both iPhone and non-iPhone users.

I'm sure Telus supports this feature and while I am fully aware that PM is meant to be a discount brand it would be great to see this very simple feature supported by PM, too.

I know the struggle with this one. When I was with Koodo this was an issue, so im curuious if telus actually has this feature.

I know a lot of people are wanting wifi calling. I'd take this feature over wifi calling any day of the week. So annoying trying to follow a group chat thread that's all over the place.

I don't understand group messaging at all - it's never seemed to work when I wanted to use it, anywhere.  Could just be me.

If I want a group chat, I use IRC software - kinda geeky I guess, but I use what I know.

Mind you, my family doesn't group chat at all - they barely use cell phones, and most of my friends aren't into cell phones.  Something about the age group I guess.

@mtfolks Group chat is working for me. From Android to iOS users. Give it a try one more time. Make sure you have it enabled from settings.

@mtfolks when is the last time you tried it?  Myself (Android: OnePlus 3 and fellow oracles @NDesai (Android: Nexus 5?), @imm1304 (Android: LG G6?), and @Luddite (iPhone) had a group chat going yesterday to test it out and it seems to be working.  Give it another try and let us know?

@mtfolks, we tested this yesterday and found that it works. Go ahead and give it a try. This feature was enabled recently. The group messages are going out as MMS and all messages (including pics & short videos) appear chronologically in the group chat window as expected.

Here's a little excerpt from our oracle chat yesterday.  This is from my phone, so I'm the un-named participant on the right.  I use Textra as my texting app of choice.  I did have to edit the image slightly to remove Luddite's and my first names and crudely replaced them with our community handles instead--in case anyone is wondering about the weird font and sizing in a few spots in the image.  😉

I haven't tried using it in about a week or so. I have MMS messaging enabled so hopefully it starts working on my end.

Hi all. For iPhone to function it must have the latest carrier update from Public Mobile (28.3), MMS and Group Messaging turned on. Confirmed this morning with test messages to a group of iPhone and non-iPhone users. 

To force Carrier update go to Settings >> General >> About; if the message for a new Carrier profile does not appear click Software update.
