Wouldn't it be great if multiple numbers could be under one account and there was an ability to pool the data?

24 gb of LTE data to share between 2 numbers over a 90 day cycle? Mind blown!

@super_cowz I find this highly unlikely at PM any time soon.  Part of the elegance for the majority of users is the simplicity and the isolation between accounts.  No need to sign up additional family under one account to get affordable service, you can each select you own plan and get your own bucket of data according to your needs and budget.  Share plans are a kludge offered up by the big 3 on their post-paid plans to help workaround their ridiculous over-pricing.

I agree that this is highly unlikely since the parent company Telus is already doing this. However, it would definitely be a game changer if it were to happen.

It's an option that wouldn't work for many current user, and I don't seriously think many new customers would either.

i can understand a shared account number, with multiple activations, however I still do not favour that option either.

Public Mobile is designed as a no frills, or at the most very few frills (ie the Fall 2016 promo), for a low cost, with prepaid, never any additional charges, and various reward options for those who choose to use their service.

i just don't see it happening.  If Telus wants that for Public Mobile, I see them rolling us into the bigger corporate monster.

I would vehemently oppose sharing of data.  Only the major brands make  500 megs of data look more precious than a pot of gold and introduce measures to take even more money from the consumer's wallet by allowing that to be shared amongst family members for a fee.  Public Mobile fees are inexpensive enough to not have to resort to sharing of anything.  The data buckets are big enough to not require sharing.  Also, anyone who needs upwards of 24 gigs in 90 days don't need to share data.  The way Public Mobile is set up, each account has one plan.  It is impossible to link plans at the moment.

As customers of this service, we are early adopters to a new way of doing business; value plans, no physical stores, no toll free number, no hardware sales, self serve, the list goes on and on...  We should embrace it for what it is and not try to pollute it with the old school stuff found in 20th century carrier business models.

Admittingly, this concept is taken from the corporate money suckers. However, it does have value among families and they will come to Public Mobile as it builds its reputation for value and good service product; so long as a new phone isn't the expectation. I thought the 90 day cycle is brilliant and adding a shared data component only increases the flexibility for family users. It's not for everyone, but then again neither is Public Mobile, not yet anyways.

If they do this they would raise the price to cover the costs of 2 plans ...

why not just have 2 plans... sill cheaper than any of the shared data plans from the big three...

It's all about increasing data flexibility within that cycle. I've had multiple individual plans (albeit retention ones) under one account with Rogers and they had the pooled data feature and with out charging extra. They can do it without charging extra, they just choose not to. This is just an idea if PM one day decides to allow for multiple plans under one account.

This would help as some members would typically use less data.

Pooled data is a great idea!

PM should come up with a model to enable user to share data to any PM user with a small fee like what the other Telecom providers can do in third world countries.

@Phil871 it's not that they can't, it's that they choose not to offer this, at least so far.  There's no point in comparing what's being offered "inthird world countries" as it's not a technical restriction, it's a marketing and product portfolio choice to keep things simple by having individiual accounts with individual plan amounts per phone line.  It's up to PM to decide what product offerings they want to provide to the marketing, and up to you to decide whether or not they fit your needs and to seek out other options if they don't. That's okay.  PM can't be everyting to everyone, so if shared data is a deal-breaker for you, unfortunately you're probably going to have to explore other options.
