It would be benefiticalnto those wanting to sign up right away if there's a way to purchase a sim from a Telus or Koodo store for PM.

Instead of purchasing it online and waiting to get it.

Case in point : this FM promo, a lot of people would buy the sim and it does get to them they'll miss the promo. If they can just go to a Telus store and pick one up and get it signed up you'll probably have a lot more people flocking to PM for deals like these!

Agree. In Ottawa no Public mobile stores or sim cards. Very hard to get one by post within 2-3 days.

Physical pickup locations would be convenient.  However, this idea has been posted a few times before in various similar forms:
Pick-up from Telus outlets
SIM card pickup depots, e.g drug stores, Costco
Vending machines
I recommend voting those ideas up if you like them.  It's better to concentrate votes behind fewer posts to highlight the demand for them rather than distributing votes to many posts.

Another option should be with cell providers in Big shopping mall. Like wireless wave , wow mobile etc. For example " Wow mobile" activates all Telus plans including Koodo. But none of these guys have Public Mobile SIM.

The thing is nothing is in it for them so why do it?

The model is fine, especially if you order 2 cards instead of one.

What part of no frills, low cost don't you get?  The savings we have here are because we give up storefronts, call centres, and various premium services offered to the 2nd and primary tier subscribers.

i would definitely switch away if I wanted those services, but I like saving my money.  I like the service I get from Public Mobile.

@kentnleung I don't think Telus really wants it to be more convenient for their customers and prospective customers to discover and move to Public Mobile instead.  It's harder on their ARPU.

@srlawren, Telus should fully embrace a new angle

@stonechucker, Certain Frills maybe necessary, and does NOT always mean steep fees.

What Telus should do is perhaps make things more interesting, shake things up

Perhaps Make Telus Mobility as the Place to buy the Handset

Make Koodo the Postpaid ONLY

Make PM the Prepaid ONLY

Therefore, each entity has a designated role

Meaning, Telus Mobility is No longer a Carrier in Postpaid, JUST selling the Handsets

Koodo becomes WHAT Telus was, Postpaid, BUT No Prepaid

PM becomes that Prepaid

@makkahn28 while I appreciate your creativity and tendency to think outside the box, I'm going to go ahead and say that, at least in my semi-educated opionion, your suggestions are quite unlikely to occur.  But, by all means, keep thinking!

Perhaps the easiest way to achieve better access to SIM cards is to have them available at the same locations as the vouchers available.  For PM, its already established list of locations across Canada and each location could hold on to only a small number of SIMs (say 10), where people can quickly obtain a SIM when there are unforeseen issues or last minute activations (for those who wait right until the promotional deadline).  Seems to me to be the simplest to implement for PM.
