Hi, is it possible to make cheap data only plan like fido 3 gb Data for 15$/month. I sign up for 2 of the fido data plans but tired of dealing with billing errors. If pm is going to offer similar thing in the near future it will be great for customers like us. Thanks community and please give your feedback.

Post ideas such as this in the Public Lab for consideration by the marketing team. I think Public Mobile has little interest in data only customers. Robot Sad

Hey @dohadotahmed definitely a good buy; however, those prices are for a Tablet plan, not a cell phone plan w/ data only service.

Unless a Tablet is what you need data only for?

Thanks @DragonSpecV for your suggestion but the fido SIM also work on cell phone because it's not IMEI locked to the tablet. I have 2 fido data SIM which I use in cellphones.

@Luddite....I think this is the public lab. ...can you please make sure that I am right? Sorry I am new here. Thanks.

@dohadotahmed yep you posted in the correct place--I think our friend @Luddite must have been sleepy when he posted his reply to you.  Sorry for the confusion!

@DragonSpecV as @dohadotahmed mentioned, Fido call them a tablet plan but there's nothing stopping you from using it on a phone.  Simply route all your calling and texting through a VoIP app like Fongo.ca and you're set.

Thanks @srlawren for the confirmation our friend @Luddite was sleepy. Sometimes carrier like virgin locked the tablet sim card with the IMEI of the tablet I.e. IMEI locked. So you can't use the sim in other devices like another cell phone.

I'd like to see this as well. For people that use little to no voice, it would be a great option (and differentiator from other carriers).

Thanks @jpar for your great insight and feedback.

Before I found Public Mobile, I was trying everyone of the big 3 and the little 3, to get a data only SIM plan, and none of them would let me without identifying what device I wanted to use it in.  All of them said it must be a tablet, and not a cell phone.

No matter what I said, none of them would give me a SIM for my phone.  Even when I tried saying it's a tablet, I left it at home, they said I'd have to activate via phone, and give my IEMI to ensure it was a tablet.

Such a pain!  I wanted to go VoIP, but they all drove me away to find Public Mobile.  Now I have regular wireless phone coverage and plan with txt and data, and although I could get a VoIP setup running, it's not worth the effort vs. The cost at this time.

i would love lower priced data options on Public Mobile, but I don't think it will happen.

Good idea, doubt it will happen but I support it if it does!

@stonechucker That's strange, because the Fido 3GB/$15 data plan is VERY popular for the "ditch your phone # and go with Fongo" crowd.  I've been tempted to go that route, but I'm still just a little bit attached to my real phone connection + SMS ability, even though I almost never make calls I still like knowing that it's there and high quality if I need it.
