Will Google's new Pixel 4a work on Public Mobile?

Google has released a new Pixel 4a Phone. The Canadian press release says it will be compatible with Telus (PM Parent Network). Can we safely assume it will work so we can pre-order now.

Thanks

Hi on2wheels. I tried the selections as you suggested and my results were as follows.

If I turned my wifi and mobile data off then apps could no longer access the internet. The MMS on off had no impact. Swithing wifi or Mobile data back on controlled the app access in accordance with my Data Saver Selection. In my case I use the Data Saver Option to prevent large downloads over my mobile data plan. IE: Radio Paradise App on Wifi Only. This does not seem to align with your results. Not sure what is different ohter than you have reversed the developer option selection. Hope this helps but as someone commented there is no notifications for you to see this.

Hi @on2wheels I suggest that you open a new thread on the Phones & Hardware board -  "Need help from fellow Pixel 4a users."  You'll get more response that way.  Cheers!

It would be more useful to tag someone like I did for you just now above. 1. to get there attention and b. to have some context of what you're replying to.

Or use the quote function if you're on a desktop browser.

But the tag will by default put a notification indicator over their notification bell above.

Did you get the 4a? I did as well. Could you do me a favour and help me test something?

I've disabled mobile data, wifi, and the developer option to always have data on, and apps will still access the internet.  The only possible related function was in mobile network settings there's a nice new feature to allow send and receive MMS when mobile data is off.  If I turn this off, the phone finally seems to not have any internet access, but with it toggled on I get full internet access again.

Can you repeat these steps and see if you get different (expected)results, where you wont have any internet with mobile or wifi data on, but with send/receive mms turned on?

Thanks.

@TE  Pixels phones will work on any North American provider no need to ask.

Thanks to you and others that confirmed that it will likely work.

I ordered my unit and look forward to being one of the first to port an nice new Google Pixel 4a onto Public Mobile's network.

It would be compatible with PM.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:

  • 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).

Please note that this information is indicative only. Your phone's compatibility with our 4G or 4G LTE networks is based on the radio frequencies of your phone. Public Mobile does not guarantee that your phone will work on our mobile network.

@TE Yes, sure, it will. Most of modern phones (if not 100% of them) will work with PM.
