@Tedhowell  Wal-Mart is currently offering a free SIM with in store activations. With the second month free promotion extended  past Dec 23rd and no minimum plan this deal can't get much better if you activate and load the free holiday add on gifts of 400 international minutes and 1gb data add on by 8:59pm et. If you ask most larger retailers will match the free sim offer such as the mobile shop, wow mobile, mobilicity and london drugs.

@ecowen  I've seen those ads too...free SIM if you use their referral code. Especially lucrative with the extra $20 credit. Aha but where do they get their SIM cards? There are sellers that you can buy bulk from reducing the cost down to a couple of dollars each at the most. There's one member here that did that and leaves them for free in the cafeteria at his 5000+employees workplace with his referral code written on the back....his investment has paid him back with a free phone for life.

If you want to refer someone in Vancouver and get them a free SIM card send them to Go-Mobile-repair on Broadway 2 blocks east of cambie...they always offer a free SIM with in store activation. If your a good talker you can convince London drugs 2 blocks away to price match it...especially on a Sunday or holiday when the other place is closed...but I still like to support the little guy!

I have purchased 4 cards from that listing and seller on Amazon and all four cards work perfectly and arrived quickly. Only thing is I paid $10 each and now they are $6.99 each 😩 that’s just my luck.

Sorry to hear that. On the bright side, you are already ahead saving $ on your mobile plan and were likely able to take advantage of the recent promos.

I know always my luck 😕 but I am very happy to have taken advantage of the recent $20 credit offer twice! Not mention the monthly cost is way lower and then the autopay discount and referral discount make it hard to beat. Oh and the free mins and data they just gave out was unexpected and very appreciated so no complaints at all.

Btw have you clicked on the "buy online with Amazon" link?

Yeah I have clicked on that "Buy online with Amazon" button. I see a $6.99 Public Mobile sim card sold by CanadianCellSupplies which isn't backed by the Amazon return policy.

In all honesty, buying a Public Mobile sim card from any selller on Amazon would probably work too, but if any issues arise hardware wise you'd have to talk to the seller directly instead of Amazon customer service.

Just be careful who you purchase your sim card from. Amazon is a market place so there will likely be multiple sellers for one item.

I've already bought stuff fullfilled by Amazon and they were fakes. So please don't lecture on how Amazon works. Practically anyone can be fulfilled by Amazon as long as they pay the fees.

Please lookup "Amazon Fulfillment" before you reply again.

I'm not recommending buying Amazon fulfilled lol, but it follows the Amazon return policy so it's hard to lose money even buying fakes. You should only buy a Public Mobile sim card that is sold by "Public Mobile" or "Amazon.ca".

The card is selling for $6.99 (includes free shipping).

It has the following product description

"⬤ Only purchase from Public Mobile ⬤ Avoid unauthorized sellers to ensure you get a genuine product.⬤"

What more is needed?

Do you know how Amazon works? That $6.99 one isn't sold by Public Mobile or fulfilled by Amazon. Anyone can put anything up under the same item category.

There are 8 sellers for this exact sim card on Amazon. If you look on the far right you see that $6.99 is being offered by CanadianCellSupplies.

Are you saying Public Mobile site is linking to a less reputable 3rd party seller?

Yeah? The $6.99 one is sold by a 3rd-party not fulfilled by Amazon.

These are the sellers for the sim card Public Mobile links to. Anyone can sell simcards on Amazon the ones that are fulfilled by Amazon are more reputable.

No, a 3rd party is selling it for $6.99 and they aren't even fulfilled by Amazon.

@ecowen  Depending on which way you travelling both Belleville and Peterborough  have a Wal-Mart and wow mobile or  you can get one from the mobile shop in superstore as well. If you collect pc optimum points you redeem them for a SIM card.

@Tedhowell  Sorry I meant to tag you in this post and you got lost in the shuffle. If you are ordering online Amazon.ca is cheapest and reliable. The ModemOutlet in Ottawa comes highly recommended and has two day delivery if you prefer a more traditional retailer. Otherwise your next trip to stock up on groceries perhaps before Christmas in Peterborough at superstore would be most convenient. If there's going to be one more promotion before Christmas by public mobile it's likely to be this weekend usually announced and starting on Friday. You might even be able to time it with an in store activation and promo while you shop...maybe the mobile shop will have a points offer!

Walmart is great, but if you don't want to travel, online is best.

In-store no, but online like from Amazon you preferably want to purchase directly from Amazon.ca instead of 3rd-party sellers. There's been all sorts of issues with sims and hijacking, it's only 70 cents more to buy from Amazon.ca anyways.

A sim card can be purchased at any mobile retailer or online, if you don't want to travel. Amazon has them for a very good price. Walmart may still supply a free sim with activation for the various carriers.

@Tedhowell

IMO public mobile is way better than lucky. I would go TOTALLY out of my way to get a public mobile sim instead of lucky. But hey thats me!!!

You can either order a sim online or go WalMart (some walmart stores don't like selling sims without activation), The mobile shop, Wow! Mobile Boutique or to any of these stores near you https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/store-locator

Once you get the SIM card if you already have an account (sim change), log into self serve here https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/
Click Plans and Add-Ons
Click Change SIM card
Enter the new sim card number then hit submit

Insert new sim card into phone

If you are activating a new account, then just follow the regular procedure and type in the sim card during activation.
