@Gail61 call *611 on your phone or 1.855.4PUBLIC from another phone, enter your phone number and it will tell yuu the account status and balance

@Gail61 if you want to port your number out to another provider, you will still need to get this line back and working first.  Maybe check My account to see if the status is active first.. please use Incgonito mode to login and check. Let us know

I don't have another phone. And I've been charged for two phones for about two years! Right up until Dec of last year. Now I'm only being charged for one phone, but now my phone is locked again and I have enough money in my account, and I'm paid up to date! I hate Public and am going for a new plan today! Screw this crap!

It sounds like you got a locked phone. If you purchased it privately, the previous owner had the phone locked with their previous carrier.

What is the make and model of your phone so we can help further?

HI @Gail61   you meant you have an unlock code for your current phone?

Then ask any of your friend to borrow you their sim to put it in for the unlock code prompt to come out

If you meant something else, please provide us the error code or error message
