I noticed that when friends send texts with pictures I need to turn on data. I have an android, and use WIFI for hot spots. I can surf internet on hot spots from a browser, but I need to turn on the data for celluar to receive pictures for MMS. When data turned on, the attachments work. Please advise if this is fixable? and how?

Sending and receiving picture messages through SMS and group messaging is considered MMS messages that require data to be on, it used a minimal amount of data that doesn’t count against your data plan, unfortunately this is how MMS is working on all providers. There is no way to do it without data on.

@GCOLLRIN Data must be turned on to receive mms, it does not count towards your bucket, but it must be turned on.This is for all carriers. Regular sms does not need data.
