I try forgot password... I reset my password... I verify by clicking on the reveal password... everything looks fine... password change is approved... then it sends me to a log in page... and guess what... I can not log in.... happens all the time... some times I just click the login to profile button and suddenly I am in without typing user/password.
there has to be something wrong with the user./password process.

The new website requires a 2FA code sent by text or email unless you switched this feature off.
It is probably the cookies that login you in without a password but this is the first I’ve heard about it.

@weadick It could be a browser cache issue.
Wait 15 mins. but Do not change the password again. Just open a new Incognito mode or InPrivate mode browser, or use a completely different browser to try again. This time , use the newest password you set and see if it work
