Ive attempted to switch from public mobile to lum mobile and my phone is locked to public mobile. This is ridiculous, ive only ever bought the $15 plan and never bought a phone with public mobile. Please free my phone. Theres no customer service contact.

If the phone is older than 6 years then it would be locked as the phone have indicated.
It is free to get it unlocked at any Telus/Koodo store for free.

Was it originally a Telus or Koodo phone that was locked? It may have worked on PM because it's the same company, but moving to another provider may now reveal what's always been there.

Where did the phone come from originally? Is it a Samsung? Did it originate with either Telus or Koodo? How old is the phone?

@willshev not true. Public Mobile has never locked any devices. You may want to explore other options.

Your issue is with your new provider, not with public mobile.
Perhaps Google the make and model of your device and check if you accidentally may have a setting which you can change on it.

I am trying to port my number to lum mobile, the process worked fine and I got the text from public mobile and everything. Where it went wrong is inserting the sim card of lum mobile into the phone, and it said the phone was locked. My phone is not locked to any other provider.

It is illegal in Canada to lock phone by carriers since 2017.
What is the make and model of your phone?
What notice is shown on your phone with the other carrier’s SIM?

Which carrier did you originally acquire the phone from?
That’s who you need to be contacting @willshev
If you’re trying to port the number to another provider, remember your public mobile account needs to be active in order to receive and reply yes to the port authorization text.

@willshev Public Mobile never sold locked phone. Issue seems to be something else. PM can't help you for phone issues. Are you trying to port out your number to another carrier? Have you successfully done it already? Wha happens when you insert another provider active sim card in it?
