Did you mean:

keeping my number

Hey, as I won't be in Canada for like next few months at least. Is there any way I can not pay for my full plan and just pay a small amount to just keep my number?

I did find this comment in the post from 2019: "you could take the 10 dollar plan or better you can suspend it up to 90 days and then pay 10 dollars to keep it active and then 90 days again or 89 actually lol" ......... So can I also like not pay my bill for the next three months and then pay only $15 (cheapest plan) once before the expiry date to keep my number? Is it possible?

Thanks 🙂

@dp19hc   Just to add to what's already been said, if you chose to change plans to the $15 and were on a grandfathered plan that is no longer offered, you will not be able to get back to a discontinued plan and would only be able to select from the available plans on your return.   Also you are on the old rewards system, so if you port out your number to save some money, you will lose rewards like $2 autopay discount and loyalty as the new points no longer gives the same discounts if you decided to activate with PM again in the future.

Good point and you won't brake to get them back and when you port your number back you will only have the option for the points program, so if you accrued a bunch of rewards you may want to stick with renewing the 15 plan every almost 3 months

@dp19hc   Using the Suspended for 85 days and reactivate for 30 days trick is good if you are leaving Canada for only a few months and you are very discipline to remember doing it on time (or you will risk losing your number).

If you leave like a year or more or you don't think you are discipline enough but you really care about keeping the number, you can consider porting out to service like Fongo and then bring back the number whenever you are ready.  Good thing for that is it is a one time work and you don't have to worry about missing the 90/85 days, bad is that you will be leaving PM in the meantime and you will be giving up all your current rewards

It is possible and a few ways of doing this.

Here is a good article on this topic:

You can suspend your account for a maximum of 90 days without losing your number. After 90 days, your number will be gone and your account will be permanently closed.

It is simple to suspended the account: make sure your account has no more funds in the Available Fund, disable Autopay and remove credit card. In this case, PM will not be able to get the funds and your account will go into suspended state at the end of that cycle. The 90 days count start from that day.

You can reactivate your account by putting in enough funds – full plan cost and click Reactivate you account anytime after but before the 90th day. However, I suggest you to re-activate no later than the 85th days, just in case.

You can also click Lost/Stolen button to suspend the account right away and the 90 days counter will also start immediately.

If you plan to be absent longer than 90 days then do not remove credit card from the file, log in around 85-88th day and renew your service manually for following month. Then again you have a window of 90 days. Good idea is to lower your Plan to $15 Plan. Be aware your loyalty rewards counter will be delayed if you suspend service for more than 60 days.
