can someone at Telus let us know if coverage will improve in this area below.  I can't even get LTE speeds at my location, it's so bad your app times out.

Green - telus

White - Freedom

hi @fixin1

but Freedom won that contract just because Rogers and Bell opted out at that time due to cost.  That project back than was a joke

@computergeek541 - Yes, but also Freedom was the first carrier on the TTC. But in a way, yes, in certain locations.

hi @downtown_416

you could see improvement with 5G.  But iPhone 7 does not have 5G

since 5G is coming in full speed, I am not sure if we will see much improvement with 4G/LTE , especially downtown area

any plan to upgrade the phone?

Only reason I'm posting is the coverage is still terrible as it was in 2019.

I've used an iphone 7, 5 years ago in the same building, with Public and realised how terrible this coverage was back in 2019 and decided to switch to Fido/Rogers.  My reception turned out to be night and day, I was able to load online videos (youtube) and websites without hiccups or pauses when compared to PM.  I upgraded to an iphone 12 and had the same great reception in the same building up until 2024 of this month .  I took advantage of PM's Black Friday (for US roaming) and I'm back to my old 2019 days of terrible reception.

Of the 5 years, nothing has changed.  My phone got upgraded to Iphone 12 from 7, I am at the same building, and reception is still terrible.

So it's been 5 years, Telus folks, when will we get a new tower close to this area?

@downtown_416 - Toronto is the hometown of Freedom Mobile, so they would get better coverage in the downtown area. Bell and Telus is ok coverage, but then Bell (As Telus rarely operates towers and more picocells and microcells) should consider the network congestion rate on the network.

One might think that about Freedom and how service should be good because it is where the service first started, but even as recent as a few years ago, there was still no outdoor service in some places within the City of Toronto.

@downtown_416, network management is far removed from the marketing side of things.  I am sure those looking after the network know of the areas of strength and weakness and would do their best to address coverage holes.

you can have good speed and reception even the network towers is not too close by.   It all depends on the network bands, phone and the building materials (assuming you are in condos)  What type of phones you have?

HI @downtown_416

Bell is known to have great coverage in Downtown Toronto, better than Rogers and certainly better than Freedom

What phone do you have? try Reset Network Settings and did you try 5G?

Thanks for responding.  Even with Bell, the speeds are terrible.  Here's Bell overlayed with Telus towers below.  Lucky for me, I'm in the area where there's no towers close by.

HI @downtown_416 Telus share network with Bell

So, when you look at this map, you have to look at Bell towers as well.  So, check mark the Bell and show us the Blue towers as well 🙂
