data useage

how can my phone use data when it is shut off.?  my phone automatically shuts off at midnight (programmed to shut off). when i review my history it says i used 562mb of data aug7th at 2:33am. 
my phone was turned off.
in 3 yrs as a public mobile customer, i have never used that much data at one time.
there must be a mistake...!!!!

You could have left your data on by mistake and forgot. Maybe a system update or app update happened while you were temporarily surfing the net.

that still does not explain the volume.  i do not have much data with my plan, and watch my usage very closely.  i have never ever used that much data in one day, cannot understand how that could have happened. i leave data turned off except when i need to look up something.  And never used over 500mb in one day since i have been with public mobile in the last 3 years..!!!

Data updates are delayed up to 12 hours. So when you go to your account or app to see data amounts, any changes are from the last 12 hours. Hope that makes sense.
