Try performing a reset of your network settings.
Apple - Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

A few ideas gleaned from the web:
- Take the cover off your phone.
- Don’t block your phone’s antenna.
- Keep the battery charged.
- If you’re moving, stop.
- Go outside / get clear of obstructions.
- Try a different location.
- Increase your elevation.
- Try Wifi calling. <===== Public Mobile does not offer.
- Find the nearest cell tower.
- Switch to the 3G network.

Are the calls dropping when you are in a particular location, or does it happen regardless of where you are, inside or outside?
If it generally happens when you are in an enclosed area, such as a building surrounded/fabricated mostly by concrete, it is likely due to poor reception.

@murphymolly1938 did you try reboot your phone or reseating the SIM yet? Try them first.
If issue persists, try to put your SIM on a second phone and test it out for a day or two to see if it works better. Just want to confirm if it is network or device issue.

@murphymolly1938 which province and city are you currently at?
What brand and model is your phone?
It just happen ? or you always have this problem?
are experiencing dropping calls when your are already on a call? or incoming call goes directly to voicemail?
try to change your network to 3G Only. If it is incoming calls to voicemail, this should help.
