Dear all,
my friend hastransfered my number from wind to public mobile 3 month ago, and he did transfer while activating his sim card. We believe the transfer of his old number is done becuase he has been using his old number with public mobile service for 3 month already, but when he tries to call wind, they said wind has to own the ownership of my number before we can cancel the wind service, otherwise his number would be lost. I am just wondering how to resolve this question? i have been using my old number with public mobile, does that mean public mobile owns my number alreayd?? can i cancel my old wind service because they have been charging me still. thanks @CS_Agent

I have seen this before but only with a VOIP service (as they normally do require manual cancellation after port out)
Technically Wind should not be discussing cancel with you; I would escalate it to Public MODs as port was probably not done properly

As @Luddite said, call the number. That will tell you if the number has transfered or not. I suspect that has though, because otherwise, he wouldn't have been receiving any calls for the past few months.
Wind Mobile once kept billing me after porting out. In that case, they had to provide me with a refund and manualy process a cancellation request. But he should only do that if the number really is transfered. It's difficult to guage what's going on through a third person. It might be a good idea to have your friend/family come here to tell us about the situation, if possible.

@shixiao2 Call his "old" number (i.e. the one that was on Wind and you tried to transfer to PM). If it rings on his cell phone then the Wind account is closed. Have him check whether Wind is still charging his credit card.

no, he has been using his old number for 3 month already, i don't understand why wind said public mobile doesn';t have the ownership of his number..

Did you try getting him a public mobile number use it to make sure all works ..then port the other number afterwards?

Sorry it was only his number.. im just asking for him because i activated his account for him, I did mine and did for his wife, we never had this question. only when i activated his account , wind won't let him cancel

In your explanation you say "his number and "my"number..are you sure both numbers were ported?

That's strange! Your wind account should automatically close once you port out. I would suggest to make sure all your outgoing/incoming texts and calls are on your number that you want to keep. Then call Wind to see why it was not cancelled as you ported out.
