I think we can't get text outside of Canada if we don't purchase the add-on. Could it possible making a add-on only for receiving text? @Public Mobile

@supermux Yes I'm sure. A decade or so ago the government made it illegal to charge for incoming texts, which applies when roaming outside of Canada as well. The rationale is that you have very little control over who sends you a text message.
Because we have roaming service available in the US, incoming texts are free there. That isn't the case in any other country because the roaming service is non-existent.

that would be nice..... I will try that soon

that is what we need as you may only need to receive the text for 2-factor text as an example.... not awkward at all if I don't want to send msg.....

@DennyCrane that is correct too but it would be awkward to receive SMS and not being able to reply.

are you sure? my understanding is that you need to purchase the adds-on for that as well

@Yummy correct except incoming SMS does not need an add-on in the US.

@TheSterlinger ibdoubt the talk add-on will come with text

I believe if you purchase the add-on you will receive both talk and text. As far as I know there isn’t just a text portion of the add-on.

PM only has roaming service in the US, nowhere else. Having said that, incoming texts in the US will work without an add-on. You won't be able to reply without an add-on or a US plan though.
