Wrong referral code

Hi, I entered the wrong referral code when activating my SIM card today. Is there a way to change this? Thanks!

This is a tough one. Here is the problem. Once a referral code is added to an account it cannot be removed. So a moderator would only be able to add the second code meaning pm would be paying out a double reward on your account. They are very reluctant to do this.

I had this happen to me as the referrer. My referral had gotten a random referral code and wrote it down. Then after working out a unusual issue with them over the course of a couple of days as a gesture of appreciation they asked for my code which they wrote down. After they activated they followed up and asked about the reward which did not show up on my account that's when they realized they had used the wrong code. They tried to get it added and the moderator said no. So  I just said no biggie....easy come easy go.....(not really) but I didn't want the member to have to go thru the hassle of trying to argue the point. But you certainly can if you are up to it.

ok if the OP meant he enter a wrong but valid code.  However, those code already not long, its not sequential I imagine.. it's not very easy, although not impossible, the code you entered would be a good one and someone else got the benefit

(haha.. maybe that's why so many ppl said they have mysterious referrals in their account and they come and go?  🤔)

With an invalid code, the system was previously set up so that you couldn't proceed to the next step for activation.

I thought the system will tell you right a way the referral code was wrong.  I remember multiple times my friends told me they tried to enter my code couple times and the system not accepting the code.  So, the system not validate the code on the spot any more?

The system has no way of knowing whose code you are trying to use.  It only tell you if the code is valid. In theory, someone else could have a very similar code.

@alexandreveille :The Moderator Team here at Public Mobile is very reasonable and nice, I'm sure when you explain things to them they can fix everything for you, so contact them ASAP.

If the OP is able to convince the moderators that the once convenient referral code link (having been removed from the self-serve screen) made it more challenging for them to input the correct referral code, maybe a moderator will recognize that feature being removed contributed to their error, and will make the change.

(Hint, hint,  @alexandreveille ) 😉

Did the store do it for you and use their friend's code or did you do it at home and type in the wrong one?  That's bad luck if you typed in a different working code by mistake.  If you typed in a different friend's code by mistake, you might have to just leave it.  It won't affect you unless you're paying for both plans.

I think you are out of luck. Once applied referral code could be cast in stone.

It is different story if you did NOT enter referral code; THEN you can ask MOD to apply it.

But, you never know. Contact MOD and ask them to help you out. Good luck!

Yes, you need to contact the moderators as soon as possible and provide them with the correct referral code.

To contact a moderator, there are 2 methods:

  1. Use the ticketing system for a faster response time. Click here and type moderator assistance, then select account-related issue, then select you need a human now.  Follow the prompts to submit a ticket,  or,
  2. Send a private message to the moderator by clicking here  You’ll need to be logged into your Community account for the link to work.

Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.
