Why 3G? If I pay for a 4G

I got a 29$ plan for 30 gigs at 4G speed but my phone displays 3G. What's going on? Can someone explain that to me, please?

@yen  No worries and yes changing your plan won’t automatically change your phone settings you have to do that yourself  unless you have it set to automatic even then it will use the network it gets best signal from . Even if on 3G plan one can choose to use the 5G network and they will just get throttled  3G speeds 3mbs

Of curiosity, I tried that yesterday, omg! I didn't know LTE was the same as 4G.  Amazing! sorry for my ignorance 🙂 I asked because the change was not automatic and I was expecting to see 4G on the top. Thank you!

Check if your phone is set to 3G instead of LTE.

You can so do in iPhone by going into setting and clicking Celluar, click Celluar data options and click voice and data. Their you should be able to change the network mode.

For Samsung

@yen  Change your network to 4G/LTE

If iPhone in phone settings voice and data general >cellular >cellular data options >voice and data
