Wait time for transferring a phone number

Hi! I am new to public mobile. I applied to have my old cell number transferred and the message said it could take up to two hours. That was last night... now it is morning and nothing has happened. Right now I have no phone service.

Since you have no service, this either means your account never got activated properly, or possibly that your phone could be incompatible.

@computergeek541 or could be locked to previous provider.

When you say "no service", that shouldn't happen.  Even if a porting request has failed (or even if you randomly picked a phone number that you aren't authorized to transfer in), your outgoing calls, texts messages, and data should have started working immediately.

It's only the incoming comminications that are dependent on your old carrier approving the phone number transter.

@mags7  typically it only takes a few hours to port.  Did you do your port as a result of a new activation with PM or did you do it using self serve account?    I ported my families numbers (3) during activation in store at Wal-Mart and it took less than 5 minutes to port.     Does your PM account info match exactly with your previous carriers info?  Such as Name, Address.  Only a slight difference might stall or halt the process all together.

@mags7, what previous service provider were you trying to port from?  Generally, cellular provider ports take 2 hours or less.  Landlines could take up to 48 hours, some VOIP service possibly even longer.  One way to check porting status is by continuing to use the old service.  If the old service is dead but incoming calls and text are not working at the Public Mobile end, it means a stuck port which requires moderator team intervention.  The moderator team can be reached via private message using this link.  Please include in the private message account number and PIN code along with a detailed description of the issue and the required resolution. This will speed up problem resolution significantly. Refer to the following knowledge base link for additional information on contacting the moderator team.

does your old sim still work ? if so use that.  if porting from another cel provider it should take upto 2 hours. if longer you likly have a stuck port. which mods need to fix.

you said you hve no service?  do outgoing calls work?
