If you do want to hold off on renewing early and losing that period of time since they don't prorate AND you are on new rewards program you can get a discount on these data add ons with redeeming points

@CorreneMurray  - simply adding funds will not automatically provide you access to use data.

 

If your account is Active, and you successfully added a voucher (or funds) to your Available Funds balance, than go to the addon section and see if you would like to purchase and data addons to get you through until your next plan renewal:

Note-buying an addon is a 2-step process.

Be sure to:
1. Add funds to your account, if you don`t have sufficient funds  

2. Go back to the Add-Ons page and select your Add-On.

 

Or, you can ask Public Mobile Representatives to renew your plan early (note there is no prorating the funds of what you paid in your current cycle).

If your account is currently Suspended (within 90 days..because after that the account closes), then you will need to reactivate your account once you have sufficient funds in your balance.

So you have added a voucher to your account so you can renew your plan early because you are out of plan data. To renew your current plan you now must contact customer support to renew your plan for you. You can change your plan to a different plan ( usually a higher data plan) yourself but if you have a grandfathered plan or bonus recurring plan data tied to your plan you will not want to do this as you will lose them forever in most cases.

 

If you only have a few days til renewal or significant rewards on your account purchasing the $15/1gb data add on may be a better choice as its a one time purchase with no expiry that will supplement your plan data until renewal and then just stay on your account rolling over every 30 days until completely consumed for the next time you run short on plan data. When renewing early rewards are deferred until your next renewal so if they are significant its better to purchase an add on if its only a couple of days til renewal.

 

Contact customer support and leave a detailed message. If you verify thru Simple--Simon or in your private message ahead of time a overnight CSA or the early shift can renew your plan while you are still sleeping or first thing in the morning.

 

Keep an eye on the envelope icon next to your avatar at the top right corner of your screen for a little number to pop up indicating a reply from a CSA. Responding promptly will speed up service times but expect a reply within an hour of the 6am eastern opening hour.
