Is there any way to get Volte activated on my account. My phone - LG Velvet 5G - is volte enabled. Why does PM seem to only recognize certain phones?

HI @Gord56
if you have roaming data addon purchased, use VoIP app TextNow to make and receive calls
and is LG Velet a VoLTE compatible phone on T-Mobile? from what I know, as long as your profile is VoLTE enabled on PM, your roaming VoLTE capability depends on the roaming carrier, not your own provider. My friend in Telus explained that to me, reason is that the connection, VoLTE or not is between the device and the roaming carrier, so it doesn't matter your phone is VoLTE compatible here or not. Try it, test it and let us know

I guess I'm just screwed then. T-Mobile 2g coverage is pretty hit and miss throughout the States.

@Gord56 , the VoLTE whitelist is pretty restrictive. Even newer phone have not made the grade.

Only those phones found here are VoLTE compatible with PM
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte
From what I understand, older phones that do not make the list would not be able to use VoLTE (ie, PM will not add them to the list). Newer mainstream phones from 2023 will be VoLTE compatible even PM might not have added to the page yet
And since LG has been out of the phone business for 2 years already, I honestly don't think there will be much change in for LG phones with PM network

PM has only turned ON volte on a limited range of cellphones...dunno why !

HI @Gord56
sorry, no way to get PM to add your phone to the list if it is not already there. Only selected models of phone can use VoLTE on PM network at this time
