@JenniferHP

I'm not sure which phone you use, bit there is a voicemail number in call settings (in android open calling app and locate 3 dots then choose settings)

Check if the phone number indicated there is actually Publicmobile voicemail number

You can select any number from here https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Using-Your-Service/Updated-list-of-Voicemail-Access-N...

Thank you for the suggestion, but I never used the voicemail with Speakout.  At the same time, I never had any problems with people calling me.  At the moment I cannot even receive incoming calls at all, even though I am able to call out. An incoming call goes directly to the "voicemail has not been initialized" message.

If it has been a few days contact a moderator.

Here’s how to contact the Moderator Team (Public Mobile representative) for assistance:

  • Get help with your account the easy way by starting a conversation with our virtual assistant, SIMon. It’ll take you to relevant help articles, or if it’s something more urgent, it can help you submit a ticket to the Moderator Team. Choose the chat bubble in the lower right hand corner and follow the prompts.
  • Alternatively, you can send a private message to the Moderators by clicking here. You’ll need to be logged in to your Community account for the link to work.

@JenniferHP   How long ago did you activate as it can take upto 4 hours, although it's usually complete within a couple of hours.  Incoming calls are the last part of porting process to complete too.

@JenniferHP  Try your speakout SIM. As long as you have not closed your account, it should work until your port-in finishes. Until then incoming calls will go to speakout.

If your port-in of a cell number remains stalled after more than 3 hours you need moderator assistance by submitting a  ticket. To get a ticket: click  https://widget.telus.tiia.ai/publicmobile/publicmobile.html and enter your question into SIMon.  Follow/invent prompts until you get to the Contact Us button, click it and a Submit Ticket button should appear.

If you encounter problems submitting a ticket, you can send a private message to Moderators here https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437, but this alternative  method may have longer response time.

I have a plan with talk and text.  Text works, and I can call out.  But when someone tries to phone it says that the voicemail is not initialized.  I have a samsung galaxy s5.  I was with speakout before but changed a few days ago.

@JenniferHP   Not sure why the voicemail is not working for you.  Have you followed @JoyLuck's instructions?  I would also reboot the phone after those suggestions.  I also have the galaxy S5 and my voicemail works fine.

Edit:  after reading @benfatto  response realized that your porting may not be quite complete so you may need to wait another few hours for completion.   Meanwhile reboot your phone a few times.

Set Up Voicemail

Voicemail requires you to have talk included in your plan, as accessing voicemail will use plan minutes. To access voicemail in the U.S., you will need to purchase the U.S. Roaming Add-On with Talk included. A maximum of 10 messages may be stored, with a maximum length of 5 minutes each. Voicemail messages will be automatically deleted after 10 days. You can recover them up to 48 hours after deletion by dialling in to your voicemail, then selecting  ‘1’, followed by ‘9’. To protect your privacy, we recommend always requiring a password for voicemail access, even if you’re calling from your own phone. After you’ve activated, your voicemail is automatically ready to accept messages as soon as you add it to your account. It will play a default greeting until you set it up. Setting it up isn’t complicated:

  1. Hold down the ‘1’ key on your phone keypad to dial your voicemail access number. Calling your own 10-digit phone number will also bring you to your voicemail.
  2. When prompted, enter a password between 4 to 15 digits long. Try to make it hard to guess, but easy to remember. It will be more secure if you avoid using numbers that are repetitive or sequential such as ‘1111’ or ‘1234’.
  3. Choose whether you want to bypass your password when calling from your own phone.
  4. Record your name, and a personalized greeting.
  5. When you’re done, hang up to end the call.

To access voicemail messages from your mobile device, hold down the ‘1’ key on your phone keypad. You can also access your voicemail from a landline or any other phone line, by dialing your 10-digit phone number, selecting ‘Send’ or ‘Call’ and then pressing ‘*’ to skip the system greeting.
