Once regular minutes are used, does system switch automatically to my add-on minutes?

Take note you'll still get standard text saying you have 10 minutes left even if you have an add-on. The text is letting you know your plan minutes you pay each 30 days is almost up. It can't tell that you have add-ons.
So what is happening After you use all your plan's minutes and switch to add-on minutes? Will you get SMS when your add-on is getting close to end?

@BrianBruise That is correct and if for example you have a long distance add-on (like free holiday gifts) then they can be used for local Canada calling minutes as well. Once your plan renews you'll switch back to plan minutes until your add-on is needed again.
