Using a phone bought from Public with a different carrier?

Assume phones bought from Pulic can be used with a different carrier? (also assume phone are not locked?). Tx.

Took it with me & swapped SIM when I arrived there.

I bought a used Iphone 8 from PM in April 2021 & it worked fine in the UK in May, using a SMARTY (UK carrier) SIM card.

Yes, it should be able to use on most carriers in Canada and even USA. 

 

But if you are thinking to use it on other carriers in other countries, then it depends on the frequencies and bands for those other carriers.  Afterall, PM is selling North American version of the phone.  It is possible that it is not most compatible in other countries.

yes. public mobile doesnt lock the device for their network. they can be used with any carrier other than PM if needed.

All phones sold in Canada since December 2017 are already unlocked. Older devices can be unlocked by the wireless carrier at no cost to the customer. ... New devices must be sold unlocked, and older phones can be unlocked for free.

Starting December 1, 2017, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission's (CRTC) Wireless Code of Conduct requires that all new cell phones sold be unlocked by default. Phones purchased before that date can be unlocked for free upon a customer's request to their carrier....
