Upgraded to 4g 14th July, still getting 3g speed

Good morning,

I upgraded to the 4g plan on July 14th but still am getting 3g speeds (0.5-1.5Mbs) almost a week later.

Phone ( Samsung Galaxy Note 9) shows 4g 5 bars in notification area but Open Signal app shows connected to Telus towers at 3g.

Before upgrading I did look at the Coverage Map which showed 4g available is in my area so I went ahead and upgraded my plan. 

How can I get the 4g speeds, or did I waste a month of upgrading costs? It's it reality not available and I need to downgrade to my old plan?

If the Signal App shows you are connected at 3G, check you phone settings. Even regular 3G plans connect at LTE but throttled speeds.

@JacquiG   I think you have rebooted your phone already?

Maybe try to reseat your sim once (power off, take sim out for a minute before putting it back and power it back on)

If possible, test it in another area different from where you are now

Is the speed slow everywhere? There  could ne network congestion.
