Thank you Korth for presenting your browser experience.

It looks like I will stay with my version of Firefox without any further updates until it stop working with all these 'modern' web sites upgrades. (For example, Chat box at CIBC site does not work properly with Firefox v56 but works fine with Edge).

As for mobile gadgets, whatever came with my phone works as expected and ad-blocker there does the trick NOT to see all that garbage companies put on there pages.

I prefer Brave for my Android smartphone browser. The best option I've tried on mobile platforms, no contest, because it's quick and simple and lightweight and has decent built-in scriptblock/adblock/security features. Without unwanted invasive mothership telemetry.

I tend to use Falkon and Pale Moon for my linux desktop browser. Falkon is quick and simple and minimalistic, Pale Moon is more advanced and full-featured.

But, really, any Chromium-based opensource browser should be good. Except for Chrome itself, because it's packed with Google-proprietary "black box codeblobs" - they say they're not hiding anything yet they make extraordinarily suspicious-looking efforts to hide certain things, it's basically spyware/malware with big Google branding, I don't want it because they already make enough money without adding "my" data to their revenue pool.

I used to be a Mozilla/Firefox fan. Once a truly epic browser. Now a bloaty sluggish half-broken mess. I don't like software which keeps auto-updating itself from worked-yesterday to broken-today, I don't like software which requires implementing endless hacks and workarounds to maintain in working order. Things might be different on the WinOS versions, though I doubt it.

I used to use firefox all the time but the last upgrade they did makes it nearly useless to me. Photos are blurry, keyboard is buggy and its just not what it used to be....

So what do you use now and why? I guess, eventually I will have to upgrade but I need web browser with very strong ad-blocker (either as add-on or part of browser where I can select what to block) as I cannot stand all that garbage and useless info floating on every web page I visit.

You would be surprised how clean my browsing is these days...

Half a things from PM site do not work when I use Firefox v56 (yes, very old one) so to see plans I have to power up Edge.

Reason to use old Firefox is that I have few very useful Firefox add-ons (making my Internet life very convenient) not working on latest Firefox (they changed 'technology' or whatnot). I guess, eventually I would have to abandon my add-ons and go with the flow.

The idea being you use all 5 pointers at the same time to achieve your goal without an issue.

Thanks everyone.  I rebooted my desktop computer and tried incognito but neither worked. I switched to my Chrome book and was able to make the change.

@Pencil_Pusher

It's a good idea that whenever you intend to make any changes in your self serve account to :

  1. Reboot your device.
  2. Clear your browser.
  3. Open one tab only.
  4. Use secret/incognito mode.
  5. In firefox, chrome or safari.

This helps avoid error messages and glitches users often encounter when making a change or applying payment. What plan are you thinking if changing to?

Current Plan / Change Plan won't load - Community (publicmobile.ca)

Try with a different browser is possible , Chrome/Edge/Firefox.    Or try incognito mode or clear cache.

BTW, just a reminder, when you change plan, you will be given 2 options. Change Immediately or change at the next cycle:

Change Immediately:  PM will charge you new plan price now.  No partial refund of the "old/current" plan you are having now (before the change)

Change at the next cycle:  Better choice if you don't need the new data/voice minute now.

Change Your Plan

When you’re changing your plan, you can choose to change immediately or at your next plan renewal date. To change your plan: sign in to Self-Serve, select ‘Change Plan’ on the Overview page, select the plan you want, and scroll to the bottom of the page.If you’re looking to apply a promotion to your plan, learn how you can do that here.

Changing your plan on the next plan renewal date

We recommend you choose this option because it allows you to use the services you have already paid for until your next plan renewal date. Here are some things you should know about this option:

  • If you choose to change your plan on your next plan renewal date, the amount owed will be automatically updated.
  • If you have AutoPay set up, the amount of your new plan will be charged on your payment due date.
  • You can cancel a future-dated plan change at any time by clicking on the ‘Plans and Add-Ons’ tab and selecting ‘Cancel Order’.
  • Any earned Rewards will be applied on your next renewal after the plan change.

Changing your plan immediately

You may choose to change your plan immediately if you have used all or most of your services, or if your account is suspended and you would like a different plan. Here are some things you should know about this option:

  • There must be enough funds in your account to cover the full amount of the new plan.
  • A new payment cycle starts when you activate your new plan.
  • Your plan will not be prorated, which means that any days remaining in your current payment
  • Any earned Rewards will be applied on your next renewal after the plan change.
  • If your account is suspended – changing your plan is a 2-step process, so be sure to complete both steps or you may be left with partial or no service. Step 1 initiates the change, and step 2 reactivates your account via making a payment (if necessary).
    1. Make sure to review your details carefully before changing your plan - Once you click “Yes, change my plan”, all features from your current plan will be lost and the plan change will be completed, even if you do not make a payment in the second step.
    2. Top up your account with sufficient funds to reactivate your service - Since we are a prepaid service, you need to have the funds available for the plan change to fully take effect. If you only have partial funds in your account, or if you do not complete payment after changing your plan, you may be left with no or partial service. We have introduced several warnings to ensure you don’t leave the page without topping up, but figured we should mention it here as well. Note: If you have sufficient funds to cover your new plan, you won’t be taken to the payment menu.

What will happen if my payment wasn’t completed?

In this scenario, your account could still move from suspend to active, re-starting your plan cycle and potentially only reactivating a portion or none of your services. If you find yourself in this situation, simply go to the “Payment” tab in Self-Serve, choose “One Time Payment”, and opt to pay the “Amount Due”. This will cover the new plan cost less any partial payment that was taken. After successful payment, your services should be fully reactivated. If your services aren’t restored, please start a conversation with our virtual assistant, SIMon, to submit a ticket to the Moderator Team by clicking here.
