Retail locations are not there to provide support for existing Public Mobile customers. And unless the location is a corporate Public Mobile locaiton (there are very few of these), they aren't going to give away a sim card.

A shopping mall. But they won't fix this.

Was the phone new and never used by anyone when you bought it? Was it still sealed in the box?

Most malls have stores like cellular point or something like. They can help activate lines.

If you live close to a mall you can visit them and have them try and activate it. That’s what I did when I signed up for the first time.

Yes ...you're right.

I'm no expert, but sounds like the phone is suspect. He says it's new but it's acting otherwise. No wonder he's frustrated.

@hairbag1  The OP @Prince1  had already indicated that he has a selfserve account and has verified that the sim numbers match. So from that it's safe to assume that he already has activated his card. But then again.....🤔

@Prince1 Did you buy the phone from a retail location or other?

 

If retail location take it back.

Where did you get the sim card ? Is it a new sim or ? Sounds like you've done everything correct and it should work. Did you buy the phone new or ?

Try cycling the phone off/on and see if that helps.

@Prince1 if the sim numbers match then your phone is blacklisted.

 

To verify this use the sim in another phone. If it works then it's your device that is the problem.

@Prince1  log into your account and click "change sim card" green arrow on picture below.

It will show you the last 4 digits of the sim card. Now go to your phone and pull out the sim card.

 

Does the numbers match? If they don't you're a victim of simjacking.

I've actually seen this message on my phone when Public Mobile was having a network outage, However, unrgeistered sim usually means that the service assigned to that sim card has been cancelled, or otherwise not active.

Use this link to see if your phone is compatible and also if it's been "blacklisted" somewhere.

Do you have another phone to try your sim card in?

 

The phone with that message. Is this a phone that was purchased second hand? Possibly on Kijiji or marketplace?
