Unable to connect to any network while overseas

Hi,

I am in Hong Kong and when I turn on primary voice line, I got no connection to any provider. I have another data eSIM but I want to be able to receive texts.  Does Public Mobile voice/text roam with international carrier?

Thanks, good to know you confirmed it works in Europe as long as you download and registered a Canadian or USA area code.

 

I have the TextNow SIM which I use while I am in the USA. My TextNow includes data.

maybe you can only register when you're in Canada or us but you can use the service even you're in Europe

I just tried it last month and all works well in Europe

so I suggest to register textnow when you're in Canada before your trip, then you can use it anywhere

According to their TOS, I read this.

Those who access or use TextNow Properties from other countries do so at their own volition and are responsible for compliance with local law.‍ 

But if you can find a directly link or correlation to their TOS, please feel free to post it.

You can use WhatsApp for free calling and texting through wifi while you are in HK.

@hTideGnow & @Chalupa_Batman TextNow have changed their service to only operate in Canada & USA.

@Lu613 , if you are using RCS format for messaging you will be able to communicate via RCS with contacts that also use RCS.  RCS has been available for android devices for some time.  It's recently available for iPhones on iOS 18.  Make sure to enable the Public Mobile SIM as default for voice and text, e-SIM for data.  A mobile connection is not required on the Public Mobile SIM.

sorry PM has no roaming service other than US 

  So, you won't be able to get any calls or texts while you are in HK

if you have Mobile data there, you can try using BoIP app like Fongo or TextNow to her calls and text on another number provided by the VoIP app

Hello @Lu613 

Public Mobile only works in Canada and the United States. The only way you can MAYBE get messages is if you used an iPhone and had some sort of data eSIM out there or Wifi. Other than that, the only suggestion I can make is for you to use a VPN on your phone and pick Canada, then download an app like TextNow and pick a local number to where you live. Then, using WiFi or a eSIM data plan from HK, you could at least communicate with everyone back home free.
