US Roaming solution

Issues with roaming in the US? My iphone8 connected to Verizon’s network with full signal but no data. Changed the network selection from ‘automatic’ to ‘T-Mobile’ and worked great afterwards.

@maple_leaf- A chosen solution does not mean that's the end of the topic. We can all continue discussing the matter if we wish to have something to say on it.  Maybe there's some slight detail you can pick up on to add some more clarity. Maybe you might find something interesting to comment on.
Sure, yeah, there's a value to the person getting the solution but that doesn't mean it's over. Or what if the chosen solution is actually wrong.

Hi @will13am , This is the first time I'm seeing the OP ask a question and provide their own accepted solution. Makes me wonder why anyone else needed to take their time to reply.

Bought in Canada or US?

@YYZ25 , Is your iPhone upgraded to the latest version of iOS?

Great question! It’s an unlocked phone direct from Apple.

Yes, that's very interesting about Verizon. I've never been able to so much as connect to it at all let alone not getting anything out of it.

Where is your iPhone sourced?  I wonder if that had anything to do with the connection behavior.  Normally the phone should seek out a T-Mobile or AT&T connection based on the SIM card in the phone.

HI @YYZ25

interesting about the Verizon

next time you can also try AT&T

I guess it's possible that the Verizon signal was stronger in your location and the phone decided to connect in Automatic mode despite no service. Setting network provider manually is the least preferred method, but is a workaround.

Thanks. I have the Canada US plan, but my experience has been that auto would always go to Verizon. Hence the manual force.

Hello @YYZ25 , You can review this Community Help Article for your future trips to the U.S. If you have a CAN-US plan or have purchased a U.S. Roaming add-on with data, leave it set to 'Automatic' with data Roaming turned on. This will allow your phone to automatically seek either the AT&T or T-Mobile networks accordingly. Automatic shouldn't have connected you to Verizon, as Public Mobile's roaming agreements are with AT&T and T-Mobile. Must have been a glitch. If that were to happen again, best to reboot phone and see if it connects to the correct network.

Hope this helps.

@YYZ25

it's a known around here that only AT&T or T-Mobile work.

That of course what pretty much everyone suggests here. T-Mobile is what PM uses to roam from.
