I am heading down to the US next week and want to ensure that I don't run out of data. I would like to purchase the Unlimited U.S. Talk, Text and 250MB Data Bundle for $20. I believe that I will run out of data in the four days that I am there, so to be sure, I would also add the 1GB $20 add on as well. Does the 1GB add on automatically kick in when the 250MB data is used? Do I have to wait before it does, or is it seamless?
If there is not a seamless transition, would I be better off purchasing the Unlimited U.S. Talk and Text Bundle for $15, then the 1GB data add on for $20? I understand the 2 step process and have a balance on my account already.

@Doonerzz if you don't anticipate needing more than 1GB total for your trip, save yourself a $5 and buy:
- US Roaming Talk & Text bundle for $15
- US Roaming 1GB data for $20
I have used this combination in the past without issue. If you are pretty sure you'll need more than 1GB then you would be best to buy:
- US Roaming Talk & Text & 250mb data bundle for $20
- and then when you run out, buy the US Roaming 1GB data for $20

Since you'll be there only for 4 days, I wouldn't worry about the 10-days expiry.
I would use all the data in talk/text/data package first and then buy more directly from the phone**. Last time I used that feature, the loading of the add-on is immediate.
Note: Make sure you know your 4-digit PIN and load up your account balance beforehand for a smooth transaction.

@Doonerzz : You're still limited by time with the add-ons. You can buy add-ons through wifi at any time. Even 18554public without add-ons. You can buy them in the states.
I would use up the bundle data and _then_ buy more data.
For talk and maybe text you can actually buy the individual talk (maybe the talk/text if you got the talk/text/data bundle) immediately after the 240 hours of the add-on time. That 240 hours is solid. So remember what time you bought it. Buy it at the top of whatever hour for ease of remembrance. Keep track of time zones. Buy it at 8am PT, buy the other after 8am PT equivalent time zone.
There is a bug with stacking talk and maybe text. Don't. Watch that 240 hours.

Best answer will be from somebody who really experienced data use in US. It should be seamless (switch from 250MB to 1GB add-on). Should...
Do not forget you will be in US and you need Internet access to access your PM account and buy/add add-on. If you really think you would need more than 250MB (not GB as you mentioned 😁) I would do it before leaving Canada.

@Meow from what I remember (haven't used them in a while):

@mimmo wrote:@Doonerzz from what I remember you can have both data add-ons at the same time.
I don't recall which one will be used up first so I would buy to the 1gb on day 3 or when the 250 gets low but not finished.
I believe @mimmo is correct. I believe I've seen users screenshot 2 or more (different) Roaming add-ons under their self-serve display.
You cannot have 2 identical roaming add-ons at the same time, nor can you arrange (easily) to have the same add-on begin immediately after the 1st one expires. Normally, there's a 24 hour lag.

mimmo - in order to avoid any issues, do you think buying separate text and talk and data plan separate would work?

Edit ignore last paragraph.
If only there for 4 days then buy the 1 GB add-on whenever you like they will both be used
