I just changed to the US Plan thinking that I could make phone calls in the States. I understand that I am unable to do so and, of course, my previous plan is no longer available plus I had to switch plans in between dates so no refund for unused portion of my previous plan. Is there a way to cancel what I did a couple of hours ago and revert back to my original plan? I need something to make calls while in the States.

@Bikergal_57, very strange that they were so sure it wouldn't work in the U.S. Maybe they just assumed since PM is on a lower tier in the TELUS family that we wouldn't have such a plan, but they do and those that have it seem to really enjoy hassle free travelling between the 2 countries.

I really appreciate the information and feel more comfortable with my US Plan. As a note, it was the local Telus that I contacted when I switched plans and was told I couldn't make calls from the US. Lesson learned - check here first.

@Bikergal_57, The company that owns PM is TELUS, and PM definitely has plans that are Canada-US oriented so you can make calls from the US, my wife and I have one of these plans so we can confirm this. Check the Shop page on the PM website or on your PM app to see the options you have to choose from for plans.
Having Data Roaming on will not cost you any extra or interfere with you data other than consuming it if it's being used, so while you are in the U.S. it will be as if you are in Canada. eSIM's are not a requirement for having a Canada-US plan, one of our phones has a physical SIM and worked just fine in the US

So, if I leave roaming on, this won’t cause extra costs or interfere with my data? Also, I received notice today of Canada-US Plans and it mentions an eSim card. Do I need one?
BTW, prior to reaching out to PM, I also contacted the company I understand owns PM and was told that PM didn't have a plan to make calls from the US.

Maybe your Brother in law had some technical difficulties while roaming.
Generally, you should have no problems while roaming in the United States. Just use your phone as normal (as in Canada). You need to enable roaming on your iPhone, but I leave that option on anyways.

My brother-in-law switched to a US Plan (Public Mobile) and he was unable to make calls. I have an iPhone 11 so looks like it is compatible. Thank-you for your help. Do I need to do anything so I don't use all my data from roaming? (Sorry, not very phone savvy)

If you switched to the US-Canada plans, you will be able to make phone calls while traveling in the USA. Why do think that you are unable to make phone calls?
However, you should have a VoLTE PM compatible phone to have a better voice calling experience.

@Bikergal_57 which US plan did you switch to? If you are on a Canada-U.S. plan you should be able to make unlimited calls there as well as texts and data (up to your data limit of course)
