Hello Community,
I recently installed the UGO app for mobile payment, but every time I start the app, I receive a text message from Public Mobile saying "Public Mobile here. Sorry, we do not offer text messaging outside of Canada at this time". I am currently on the grand-fathered $90 90-day plan with Canada text only, so it makes sense that I cannot send international text messages. However, I didn't send anything manually... Does the UGO app send automatic text messages to an international number? It's pretty weird to me... Please share your experience if you are using the app as well 🙂 My phone runs Android Mashmellow.

Glad I could help, @homer. Keep us posted if the app continues to work without the SMS priv or not.

Revoked its SMS access. Good for now, but don't know whether it affects any payment functions yet. Thanks

@homer If you look at the permissions for UGO Wallet, they do in fact request SMS:
If you are on Android 6, you could try revoking the SMS privelegde from UGO, and clicking DENY if it prompts you to re-allow it. This would prevent it from sending text messages. However, depending how the application is written, it may refused to do anything without it. But it's worth trying. If you are on Android 5.1 or older, unfortunately you can't pick and choose which permissions to allow and deny, it's all or nothing per application. If you're on iOS, then I'm not sure if it's possible or not.

If UGO uses servers outside Canada to send text messages to you it will trigger this error. Happens to iPhone users as well with iMessage.
