HI @dominic1 with VoLTE now enabled, your next US trip would be a lot easier to get voice working.  As long as you can connect to T-Mobile 4G /LTE, your voice would work with VoLTE and no longer need 2G network

I will try once more on my next trip..and follow some advice you gave

Glad to hear it. Airplane mode probably would have worked too.

Text should work also if you have that. Talk is likely going to be a problem if it can't drop down to 2G and that you can't manually select it. But you seem fine with data so all good.

changed to LTE, then rebooted, worked. THX for the prompt

it offers LTE or 3  G, but neither selection makes  difference.. unless in need to reboot inbetween selections? don't see why i would..

  • i should think so but sorry, not sure, as we live where there is no 4G. it is an iphone 11

Can your phone do LTE/4G?

Thank you but no, unable to connect. there is a "É" in the pace where the 3G sign usually goes. T mobile is the only cellular choice.

Did AT&T let you connect? Connect to T-Mobile. Let it stay on automatic networks. Select LTE or 4G for networks. Coverage is always an issue anywhere with any provider. Once connected you should get a welcome to us text. That's the sign that you're there. Data and text should work fine once connected.

I know this isn't an answer, but I'm errors when trying to access my account right now. Sometimes it says it is down for maintenance, and other times it says a 404 error.

I'm in a similar boat leaving in 2h and I can't purchase the US roaming for my trip.

I bought a US addon twice in the last year and both times had problems too. But I found out that coverage is minimum in some areas. (Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska) I was going from Vancouver to Missouri and had  only a very few successful calls. Public Mobile credited me my first add on and the second worked a bit better so I didn't bother for a refund.

@ferryphone - did you purchase it recently? Roaming addons last 15 day once purchase.

If your Roaming addon is listed in your account and this is the first time buying it on this trip, don't know how customer support can help through a ticket, other than trouble shooting you can get here.

But if you need Public Mobile Representatives (CSA) by submitting a private message(ticket) to them here:

Private Message to Public Mobile Customer Support Agents (CSA)

Connect to T Mobile 2G network, maybe restart you phone.

Public mobile talk is hit and miss these days because of the decommissioning of the 3G Network in the USA.

PM roaming talk depends on the 2G T mobile network which has unreliable coverage in the USA.  Data and text should work fine.

@ferryphone Seatle is a hit or miss for roaming.  Which roaming addon you got?? Data? Voice?

Make sure you try to connect to TMobile.

If you need data, make sure Data roaming is enabled on your device.

If Talk is needed, try changing Network type to 2G

@ferryphone

have you enabled Roaming on your phone ?

Manually select T-Mobile as preferred network whilst in US.
